Shane Dooley (music)

Shane Dooley creates kaleidoscopic post-rock music for concerts goers and yoga classes with an acoustic guitar and a looping pedal. Largely self-taught, he has studied post-rock, rock, classical, metal, jazz and blues playing styles. In 2003 Shane discovered the Line 6 DL4 pedal and with it, found live looping as well. So much more was possible from that point on, the fullness and dimensionality of the sounds in his mind could now be translated in real time for a live audience. Shane expertly crafts layer after layer of sound with an acoustic guitar, the voice, and a kalimba, testing and expanding the limits of the sonic palette of each. Shimmering harmonics cascade around purposeful melodies as the sonic focal point shifts and moves keeping the sounds fresh, even as they repeat. The percussive aspects of the guitar are explored hearkening to aspects of EDM and IDM. A tinge of psychedelia dances throughout the music. Shane began playing live shows and hosting an open mic while living in Boulder, CO where he released his debut album "Out of the Loop' in October, 2012. He now resides in Santa Cruz, CA where he performs and creates beautiful, improvised soundscapes for Yoga Church as well as works as a luthier at Santa Cruz Guitar Company.
