About Myth of I

When two wandering guitar enthusiasts, Jennings Smith and Tyler Fritzel, began schooling at Berklee College of Music in 2013, they quickly recognized the potential for not only a strong friendship, but a tight creative bond founded in their mutual love of powerful, virtuosic progressive music. As they worked together, honing their skills and becoming closer friends, they created Myth of I.

After trying out several lineups, the duo discovered fellow Berklee students Matt Lippa (on drums) and Aodán Collins (cellist and bassist). In the months to come, the group sweat and bled out their passion for technical metal music, defining their sound through discipline and force. Their mixture of head-banging fury and soul-soothing cosmic riffs gelled into a singular sound, which grew with the love and commitment of the band.

With the help of their mutual friend Jason Onessimo, Myth of I recorded their debut four-track “S.T.E.M.” EP at Odiox Studios from 2014 to 2015. They soon found themselves pushing the bounds of their music even further, playing gigs all around Boston with such acts as Native Construct, Save Us From The Archon, and many more.

Myth of I is currently working on pre-production for their first full length album which will be released in late 2017. The metal community has proven they have a formidable voice with much to say, and you will hear every word.
