The Montell Jordans

The Montell Jordans are a rock and roll band based out of San Diego, CA formed in 2015. They were described by San Diego City Beat Magazine as “an amalgamation of pop punk sheen and heavy-metal guitar riffs”. The band formed when friends Tim Kilcourse and Ryan Baghai started jamming as two guitarists. There were no expectations or intentions for the music other than creating an activity to accompany drinking beer. Despite each other’s difference in music interests and styles of playing, songs began to form effortlessly with Baghai’s metal lead guitar riffs complimenting Kilcourse’s melody driven song writing. Growing a collection of material, the semi-band needed to find members to complete the sound. After months of craigslist postings and failed auditions, the band found drummer Matt Price. Matt’s experienced progressive drumming style added the lacking backbone to the songs. Bassist Adam Sisco has been added to line up to complete the full heavy rocking sound. Each member’s diverse background and influences blend uniformly to give the band its distinct mixture of genres, pulling the best attributes of each: the melodic hooks of pop, live energy of punk and hardcore, 80’s metal riffs and solos, and the intricate drum beats of progressive. Ironically though, all members favorite musical artist is undoubtedly Montell Jordan. The band’s experienced stage presence demands the audience’s attention, keeping even the most disinterested viewer captivated with catchy choruses and through-the-roof energy.
