About Darla And The Blonde
"Gorgeous pop, savage indie songwriting, engrossing melodrama.” - Clash Music
Darla And The Blonde are female fronted East London quintet who play atmospheric, alt rock.
Influenced by Nick Cave, Patti Smith and PJ Harvey, chief songwriter Nina Lovelace (rhythm guitar and backing vocals) recruited Jen Demeris (lead vocals), Davide Mongirulli (lead guitar), Craig Page (bass) and Tom Loffman (drums) to complete the band in 2014.
Their early releases got enthusiastic support from Clash, BBC Introducing and various blogs. "Darla & The Blonde‘s The Article is a dark, brooding cataclysm of tragedy. The powerful intentions here make this a truly engaging story and song from start to finish, and I’ve no doubt this must make for an exciting live performance too." - Fresh On The Net
True enough, the band's live performances take cues from theatre, with costume changes and narratives mirroring Lovelace’s lyrics about the concerns and experiences of inspirational women, both real and fictional.
“Sometimes a special band comes along, with a uniqueness about them that proves hard to ignore.” - Louder Than War
Most of all, Darla And The Blonde are about great songs, great story telling.
"Lovelace has an impeccable songwriting ability and the way Jen Damaris delivers each word is ruddy delicious." - We Close Tonight
Darla And The Blonde are set to release a string of singles in 2017.
