About The Reasn

“I’m starting to feel like a runaway slave, they got me rocking all these whips and these chains” are lyrics from the first song “Runaway Slave” on the 70 West LP, which introduces the listener to this complex mind. Reasn explains, “I wont get caught up in the flashy shit, I will use my gift for real issues.” A force to be reckoned with, Columbia, Missouri singer/songwriter Reasn makes a statement with powerful honest lyrics, bold falsetto and a refreshing sonic blend of urban drums with classic rock guitars. His name has gradually spread over the past year after releasing an EP and debut album in November 2016 and touring with multi-platinum selling artist BoB. Reasn’s passion for singing developed early on singing in church where his mother was a choir director. At a young age he started songwriting, which became a main outlet for him. Performing consistently during his teenage years, Reasn’s talents led him to travel to various cities around the country from St Louis to Atlanta to New York and finally Los Angeles, where he is based now. Once in LA, he connected with a couple of producers who gave him the freedom to experiment sonically and lyrically, combining classic and edgy and playing with elements of R&B, hip hop, pop and classic rock. Soon after he formed his band and opened for the likes of Estelle, PJ Morton, Tinashe, Trinidad James and BoB. In January 2016 Reasn released his debut EP “70 West” on Soundcloud, which garnered over 1 million streams. His music videos for his singles “Blue Fame” and “Killer” premiered on FuseTV and Billboard.com. While touring with multi-platinum selling artist BoB the summer of 2016, he premiered his most recent socially conscious video “American Dream” on RevoltTV, which he performed at BET Music Matters showcase in NYC and ASCAP “On the come up” in LA. “Had a dream I was President, then I woke up in jail” is the first line in his song “American Dream”, a song that resonates across generations and depicts the ongoing hardships and prejudice African Americans still face today. In November he released an album 70 West LP with remastered songs off the EP and 5 new songs with features from Trae tha Truth and Watch The Duck. 2017 already looks bright for this soul rocker, with a new album in the works and a tour planned for the spring/summer. As a singer-songwriter Reasn strives to make music that is honest and timeless, influenced by some of the greatest...The Beatles, Marvin Gaye, Prince, Michael Jackson, artists who are not afraid to take risks and cross boundaries and musical genres. When Reasn is asked about the type of music he makes he explains, "I'm bringing back Rock and Roll into black music and I’m adding today’s urban culture to it".
