Steve Barnes

Musician and entertainer Steve Barnes has been captivating audiences since 2008. Born in Chicago, Steve has played in numerous bands and has taken part in many musical projects. By combining the sounds of Americana and jam, Steve’s music knows no boundaries and follows no set of rules. Fusing the new and familiar together, Steve’s music encompasses a cutting edge sound in American music. The Steve Barnes Musical Project is a journey that has no end, rewarding those that listen, an opportunity to experience the special essence of his music. Steve’s sound is constantly expanding, never allowing itself to be stagnant or dull. Steve is currently finishing his third album titled Autumn Heights. The album adds another chapter to a growing musical novel, ultimately displaying the everyday struggles and joys of life. The journey of Autumn Heights is two fold: to tell how the failures, sorrows, struggles and pain buried deep into the past can keep one from enjoying the happiness of the present, but also shows that the joy in life can lie alongside the pain, and where happiness is broken hope exists. Autumn Heights does more than describe the positives and negatives of life, by showing how the cure lies in the relation between the two. The promotional techniques of Steve Barnes can be considered part of a musical grassroots movement. The fans are as much a part of the musical project as Steve is. The glue that ties it all together is a call for empathy and compassion. These compatible ethics underlie Steve’s music and allow for open-ended and unrestricted promotion that instills a kinship among the fan base. Currently Steve is playing with his wife Beth and producing alongside Tim Radloff. He also plays with a well-known local band, My Lazy Elephant, and has also played with other numerous successful bands such as: Vehicle, Boxcar Dynamite and Harvest. Steve has played many shows around the Chicago and Midwest area and plans on continuing this trend. Some of these shows include winning a Battle of the Bands and playing a benefit concert dedicated to Hurricane Katrina. In addition Steve has had the opportunity to open for bands such as: The Steepwater Band, Beautiful Collision, Mr. Blotto, Aaron Williams, Ryan Mumby and the Hundred Year Rain, Dropped Once, Jet, Slaughter and The Dirty Rooks.
