About 9Tomorrows

What does alt-reggae-dance-rock sound like? 9Tomorrows has created that sound, adding other flavors to the mix, producing a worldly yet familiar west-coast flow. Through this, 9Tomorrows shares addictive pop tendencies with other established artists, but holds a unique musical identity. 9Tomorrows is a nationally touring band from Minneapolis. Led by international producer/songwriter David Kellogg (lead guitar), he teamed up with his Droptone Studio partner/co-producer Stephen Helvig (vocal/guitar), and alt-rock frontman Dax Young (lead vocal) to create an original reggae alt-rock sound. Stephen also produces at Kellogg’s Droptone Studio where he has worked with artists such as Maria Isa. On bass is the ultra-talented Jai Bowie. Jai started playing music as toddler with his father Jim Bowie, who is recognized as one of the greatest banjo players of all time. Adding to the lineup is Patrick Vogl (keys) who performed with Maria Isa and Kredentials, and the incredible Elliot Weiner (drums) of Blood Root Mother. Our music is entrenched in our various musical histories. David has lived part of his life in the Caribbean and has been heavily affected by reggae and world music when he wasn’t spending time worshiping Led Zeppelin. Dax, being a hard-core band junky, has too many influences to list, but Jeff Buckley and Brandon Boyd from Incubus stand out and are highly reflective of his vocal tone and power. Stephen grew up listening, playing, and singing in punk, alt rock, and vocal bands. His obsessions range from Sublime to Conor Oberst. Jai has played in several successful bands from San Diego and growing up in the industry was influenced highly by his musical parents and their friends like Willie Nelson and Bella Fleck. 9Tomorrows has toured the country with the likes of Jamaican great Beres Hammond and has become a dance-your-butt-off live band that wholeheartedly commits to a wide variety of dynamics and styles. Through combined addictive lead melodies, dynamic harmonies, and clever guitar riffs, we create an exceptional and lasting sound. Our music is very song oriented, and although these are incredibly high standards, we strive to hold up the tradition of great songwriters and performers like Prince and Bob Dylan. http://www.9tomorrowsband.com http://www.twitter.com/9tomorrowsband
