Sam Gillis

Hailing from the heart of Cajun Louisiana, Sam Gillis is a genuine bluesman who plays how he lives: passionately and honestly. A purveyor of traditional roots music, he brings his own brand of seated, electric, foot-stomping blues to the table.



Since the age of 15, Sam has been working hard to craft his music. While keeping that momentum today, he finds time to play shows year-round, connecting with audiences all over the western states and beyond. Sam has shared the stage with the likes of the great Charlie Parr, alt-blues heavy hitters, Hooten Hallers and dirty blues-rock guitarist, Husky Burnette. 2017 saw the release of his debut effort, 1st Strike, an album from his duo project, Blue Lightning. Sam’s primary influences are Mississippi Fred McDowell, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Mance Lipscomb, and Tom Waits. You can hear each of them as they take part in his howling, soul-wrenching music.
