About Angelo Gregorio
Immersed in the vibrant world of music, creativity, and innovation, I am a saxophonist, composer, and project developer who burns with passion for every note and every idea. With a fervent mind of inventiveness, I enthusiastically dedicate myself to each project, infusing life and energy into everything I do.
My music is a kaleidoscope of emotions and colors, a journey that spans genres and styles to create something authentic and surprising. As a teacher, I strive to inspire the next generations, firmly believing that the change for a better future lies in their hands. I am an embodiment of creativity in motion, always seeking new challenges and opportunities to express myself and connect with others through the magic of music and art.
Angelo, born in Salerno, Italy in 1983, has established himself as a prominent figure in the European jazz scene. He embarked on his musical journey early, traveling between Europe and the United States for masterclasses with renowned jazz musicians. Angelo's formal education took him to Brussels, where he earned multiple degrees in classical and jazz saxophone, as well as music pedagogy.
Throughout his career, Angelo has been involved in various musical projects, from experimental solo saxophone ventures to big band orchestras and international collaborations. Notable achievements include founding the Orchestra Italiana Bruxelles and co-founding "The Hipster Project" with trumpeter Federico Mansutti. He has released several albums, showcasing his versatility and innovation in jazz music.
Beyond performing and recording, Angelo is dedicated to promoting cultural exchange and education. He founded the Belgian Italian Jazz Festival and has been involved in numerous artistic-cultural initiatives, garnering recognition from Italian and Belgian institutions. Notably, he was commissioned to compose a jazz suite based on Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy.
In recent years, Angelo's efforts have extended to artistic direction and teaching. He serves as a professor of saxophone and jazz ensemble at Brussels Music Academies and Royal Athenaeums, while also pursuing creative research on jazz and sailing.
As of 2024, Angelo continues to be actively engaged in various musical endeavors, including recording a new album with his Via Toledo Jazz Quartet, set for release later in the year.
