About Old etc.
With a name referencing the wistful poem "My Sweet Old Etcetera" by e. e. cummings, Old etc. pines for times long gone, wholly empowered by hopeful intent. The listener is guided into dream world of hypnotizing rhythms and nostalgic narrative, with sounds reminiscent of Kurt Vile and Explosions in the Sky, Concrete Blonde and Slowdive, Saves the Day and Superchunk. Old Etc. is set apart by their ability to captivate listeners inside their own aesthetic. Since they assembled in late summer of 2014, they've self-release a five song self-titled EP and have been consistently playing shows in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachussetts. "It doesn't matter where we go or what sort of people we're playing for, we always see their unwavering attention during our performances," says singer/guitarist Elizabeth Taillon. "It's clear that they are connecting to something much deeper than just being entertained. They relate to it because it is very human - equal parts sad and hopeful." With most songs clocking in at six minutes each, perhaps their strongest musical characteristic is their ability to construct dynamic emotional build-ups. Taillon's affinity for emotionally transparent folk-style songwriting is wildly juxtaposed by Brandon Lamontagne's otherworldly guitar effects and infectious riffs, Mike Sajecki's lively and undivided drumming, and bassist Alex Dulac's energetic and complex playing. Old Etc. are quickly gaining attention in the Portland music scene and the surrounding areas. They plan to eventually take over the world. oldetc.bandcamp.com
