About Coffin Spell
Coffin Spell began under a different moniker as a recording project between Adam and Jovi in 2009 while Adam was living in North Carolina. Adam would send guitar tracks to Jovi who would write lyrics, add percussion, and mix them. Adam eventually moved back to Pennsylvania with plans to continue Coffin Spell as a real band, but both he and Jovi both ended up becoming members of the stoner rock band Jaw Horse. While in Jaw Horse together, Adam and Jovi would continue to write music together and recorded nearly 60 songs apart from Jaw Horse for their side project and released CDs for their friends and occasionally discussed doing it as a real band. In fall of 2014, Jovi and Adam began to talk more seriously about doing their project as a real band. Going with the spooky imagery and content they'd continually been adding more of, they changed the name to Coffin Spell. That same fall their long time friend Al who was drumming in a band called Lesser Of Two Evils insisted that we finally get it off the ground with him on drums and put together a set for Halloween. Coffin Spell made their official debut as a three piece band on Halloween 2014. By March of 2015 they had over 20 songs in their repertoire, including brand new compositions. They recorded these with Eric Pugh of Jaw Horse and released them as a split EP with Surfin' Mutants Pizza Party (March 2015), The Mummy For President LP (June 2015), and Neanderdoll! LP ( to be released August 2016). By Halloween of 2015, Coffin Spell had twenty more songs ready to go and called upon their friend Matt Kunkel from Martian Conspiracy Theory to record them. Due to some difficulty recording, Coffin Spell ended up just doing 14 songs and decided to release them together as a full length titled "Mystic Seer" (February 2016). In March of 2016 Coffin Spell once again recorded a batch of songs with Matt that will be making up 3 more releases due out in 2016. "Brimstone Road" EP is due to be released on May 6th 2016. A split EP is being talked about with Martian Conspiracy Theory, along with a special EP that will be given out for free on Halloween 2016. Come on up here, we ain't that scary.
