Nouvelle Vague landed at the Concert Hall (Masonic Temple) on February 15 in their new incarnation, after the passing of one of their founding members and recruiting new singers, Marine Quéméré and Shanice Alonya Sloan. The show was well worth braving the snow storm that hit the city (again). Their performance started with Marine signing a fabulous jazzy version of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart." She was soon joined by sassy Alonya who exuded a sensual Eartha Kitt vibe. A lot of great 80s songs followed, including a terrific "Marian" by The Sisters of Mercy. "She's in Parties" and "The Guns of Brixton" were a lot of fun. The band had the opportunity to perform solos while the ladies changed their outfits. Both Marine and Alonya got wine glasses and a bottle of wine, some of which they shared with audience members before launching into "Too Drunk to F**k" by the Dead Kennedys. "Girls on Film," "Should I Stay or Should I Go," "Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone Someone You Shouldn't've)" and two Depeche Mode songs were among the tunes they reinterpreted. They performed three encores ending with a haunting rendition of "In a Manner of Speaking" which was pure gold. Definitely a fun night!

Vraiment très bien. Au delà de mes attentes. Quand on fait revivre un groupe, il y a toujours un risque que ça ne soit pas à la hauteur. Mais là, ce fut le cas, largement. Et le son était très bon, bien meilleur en fait que le dernier disque, mal mixé et distortionné , du moins sur Qobuz.

Bought the tickets fairly last minute and wasn't sure what to expect, but it was one of the best shows I have seen. The singers put on a great show and the band was really good as well. Opening act '2120' were also very good.

They are great but the two new girls were not so good.

Awesome gig, very vibrant and passionate! The opening act was poor but Nouvelle Vague were Fantastic!

Literally didn’t know what to expect, but was amazed by their performance. It was like no other really. They know how to draw in their audience it was lovely.

Großes Kino! Ein sehr schönes Konzert. Stimmung, Sound, Location perfekt. Eine sympathische Band! Ich freue mich aufs nächste Mal.

It had a preposterously long delay between opening act and main show. Also, it felt more like an artificial, rehearsed stage show than like a concert. The quite pretentious theatrics threw me out more than they added to the enjoyment.

Great show, great venue and good interaction with the audience. Pity they didn’t do ‘Plans For Nigel’ but not a deal breaker :-)
