About Orcus O Dis

Hailing from México, the band was formed in 2003, founded by Alfredo Rivera (guitars), Emmanuel González (guitars) and Alberto Aviles (drums). They've already played together in a heavy metal cover band called Sirius. After the break-up, the decision was made to play more aggressive and melodic music with influences of the the Gothenburg metal scene. Although the band was incomplete at first with only two guitars and drums, that didn't stop them to write music. Ivan Carbajal later joined on vocals and they started to play live shows without a bass player. Ivan decided to leave the band to focus in other projects and Alfredo Rocha replaced him on vocals. In the search for a bass player, Ivan wanted to rejoin the band, but since the vocal duties were filled, he joined as the new bassist. In 2005, the band was invited to be part of a compilation album titled "JuariTODOS CONTRA LA VIOLENCIA" (trans. Juarez Against Violence). By that time, they've recruited Pierre Fernandez as keyboardist. The album was released later that year and featured the songs "Mictlán" and "Orcus O Dis". After playing shows to promote the album, Pierre leaves the band. It was not until 2007 when, working with Fabricio Avalos (as manager), they returned to the recording studio to work on their first EP. The album was finished by the end of 2008 and was titled "Novus Orsa" (trans. New Beginning). Finising the album, Alberto steps out of the band. Struggling to find a new drummer, the future of the band is uncertain at that point. With the help of local radio, David Nuñez hears about the band looking for a new drummer and decides to audition and gets the job. This is when good things begin to come. In 2009, the band finds out there is a Metal Battle in México where the winner gets the opportunity to play in the Wacken Open Air festival, but that year's competition had already concluded. So they decided to participate in the next year. Once the inscriptions are open, they register to compete against 44 bands from all across the nation and ended up winning the 2010 Metal Battle. The band travels to Germany to play in the greatest metal festival in the world, W:O:A 2010. On August 4th, they go up the stage to play for the metal fans around the world. That year's main billing\bands were Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper, Slayer, Motley Crue, Arch Enemy, Cannibal Corpse, Stratovarius, Soulfly, UDO, among many others.
