About The Fab Rudies

Rising like a phoenix from the horizon, The FABulous Rudies are back and better than ever with a rejuvenated lineup, a new record to be released, and a movie inspired by the band & their founder titled - MUSIC HIGH. Landing with enough force to generate a tidal wave capable of sweeping their Oceanside, California home out to sea, this six piece is poised to vault themselves skyward to new heights of popularity and attention. Blending classic two-tone ska with contemporary pop punk and infectious, soulful vocals, The FABulous Rudies are picking up steam in a hurry. With over 14 years under their belts and following an impressive level of success, the original Fabulous Rudies broke up in 2008, only to give way to the fresher, leaner reincarnation greeting music fans today. Founding member and singer Tom “Tommy2Rude” Voris rebuilt the group with a young, yet experienced lineup, featuring his 17-year-old daughter Kailyn taking the reins on lead vocal duty. Like a shot of adrenaline to the heart, The FABulous Rudies were revitalized, and quickly began penning new songs, landing gigs, and setting up prospective record deals. By December 2010, the group released its first recordings titled, "Help Me,” which features eight tracks of thoughtful, catchy songwriting driven by Kailyn’s incredible vocal talent. While drawing comparisons to bands such as No Doubt and Paramore, The FABulous Rudies continue to carve out their niche amongst pop punk, ska, and alternative music fans. The whirlwind of music and exposure driven by the release of "Help Me," as well as electrifying live performances including perennial appearances on Van’s Warped Tour has created a flood of media attention. Alternative Press, Rolling Stone, Music Connection, Variance Magazine, Alwayz Therro, etc. to include local media and international e-zines, have all quickly picked up on The FABulous Rudies’ vibe, as they continue to attract positive attention from coast to coast. The group was the first band to be nominated as Rock Artist of the Year by the Los Angeles Music Awards in 2011 and World Music Artist of the Year during the San Diego Music Awards that same year. “[The FAB Rudies are] on the crest of the next wave in alternative music,” said Kevin Lyman, founder and organizer of Van’s Warped Tour. The FAB Rudies are already set up to expand further by way of films during 2012-13, including BEACH BAR, which their version of “Tears of a Clown” is the title track for the movie. Set for release in 2013, the pre-mentioned film “Music High” by Angelic Pictures will see the band performing as themselves in addition to contributing 8 songs on the soundtrack to be released by Universal. In fact, TFR’s lead songstress Kailyn Voris, has a supporting role in MUSIC HIGH, in which she is part of the high school music class that competes in the “battle of the bands.” Her movie band, “The Pop Squirrels,” perform The FABulous Rudies single, “It’s My Life” which is not only the title track of the movie, but the winning song in the band competition to save the music program in the film. Because of their performance in the MUSIC HIGH, The FABulous Rudies’, It's My Life, is a 2012 Visual Media Nominee for BEST SONG in an INDIE FILM, DOCUMENTARY, or a SHORT at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA) set to take place at the Highlands in Hollywood, November 15th.
