Danny Widdicombe

Danny Widdicombe is a multi award winning musician and recording artist based in Brisbane, Australia. He’s also an astro photographer, cancer survivor, father, educator, researcher, and record collector. As a recording artist, Danny Widdicombe is an eclectic musician, releasing albums that encompass the genres of folk, blues, rock, bluegrass, country, jazz, electronic and ambient. As a live performer, Danny sings with an honest and world weary voice that soars over his renowned abilities on the guitar. As a session musician, Danny has played guitar for Bernard Fanning, Tim Rogers, Emily Wurramara, Shane Nicholson and many more.
Danny won the 2021 Qld Music award for Best Jazz release for his collaboration with the experimental jazz trio Trichotomy. Danny has also received 3 x ARIA Award nominations for each of the studio albums he released with his beloved bluegrass band The Wilson Pickers. As a solo artist Danny found acclaim after winning the coveted GW McLennan Memorial Fellowship and his first Qld Music Award in 2010, enabling him to tour Europe before his leukaemia returned for the third time. Undaunted by this run of bad luck in health, Danny has since toured through USA and his home country of Australia whilst releasing albums and playing a seemingly endless amount of live performances.
