About Alpha Particles
[Allen Morris] Alpha Particles is my way to merge my diverse interests of different musical genres and styles, along with photography, graphic design, painting and other visual arts, with introspection, observation, and spirituality. I am a very experiential person and because of that, I learned how to play guitar, electric bass, drums, piano, cello, ukulele, and lap steel guitar, alongside songwriting, music composition and arranging, recording engineering, and technical and artistic production. Having dipped my toes in a lot of different creative and artistic endeavors I hope you hear in the music I bring forth.
I grew up in a very artistic and musical household. My grandmother listened to a lot of swing and big band like Artie Shaw and Count Basie, my mother was into stuff like Depeche Mode and New Order, my dad Yes and King Crimson; they all played musical instruments, my sister painted, designed and made clothing. It was a very stimulating house to grow up in. I was interested in a lot of things aside from music: astronomy, geology, architecture, hiking, camping, and photography. I think all of those things factor into my music somewhere.
I played a lot of shows with a revolving cast of characters, all of whom I really cherish a lot. I learned a lot from years of playing outdoor music festivals, noisy dive bars, lounges and restaurants, and all of the woes and joys that comes from being a full-time musician. I did the solo-thing for a while, touring under my name, Allen Morris in 2017/2018 in support of my only full-length (Fly By Wire, 2017) so far, but I found it was the collaborative and organic nature of creating music with others is what I strive to do. I'm working on a series of recordings, I akin them to "sonic sculptures." They're pop songs that are pieced together layer by layer, maybe more like architecture. I'll be releasing them all throughout the next couple of years. I'm very excited about this. I'm very excited to be sharing these things with you.
