About Aspen Tide
'Aspen Tide' began playing in 2009. The boys met whilst studying music at university and quickly developed a sound which they felt had to be heard! Since they have played all over Scotland, showcasing their ability to impress crowds with not only their energetic full band gigs but also their stripped back acoustic shows! The band released their debut offering of single 'Lions' accompanied by B-side 'Breathing Underwater' on 1st December and look to enter 2011 with big plans of touring and a release in January! Here's some nice things that have been said about us: 'Glasgow based Aspen Tide are an exciting aspect for the line up. The vocals are very loud and effervescent, instantly grabbing the listener’s attention as we’re encouraged to move to the front of the stage. Aspen Tide seem to combine a megamix of influences; it’s hard to pin point just one act to compare them too as they play their way through their set. Aspen Tide are ones to watch, they may be fairly new to the scene but they’ve already penned a heap of very clever and very catchy tunes.' - Susan Ford, Glasgowmusic.co.uk 'Aspen Tide, it would be fair to say, were put at a slight disadvantage having blooded a new drummer during the sound check. The result was surprisingly coherent set that made listening to the freebie CD give away an absolute must. The heavier almost mainstream rock style made the short set one of the standouts for invernessGiGs.' - Chris, InvernessGiGs 'Got quite a lot of time for Aspen Tide, even though they make music that I usual feel is aimed at people a good ten years or so younger than me. Happy to report that their new single is a good one then. 'From The Strong Came Forth' mixes things up a bit, changing direction a few times as it goes, inspiring bouncing around one second, then slipping into something more gentle and restrained the next, with a good old bit of screaming to round things off...' - Jim Connick, Aye Tunes "I had forgotten how utterly infectious they are. Not the kind of pop infectiousness of, say, Weezer or B*witched, but the gut wrenching familliarality of love gone wrong...The accomplishment of the four way harmonies and vocal line is a meritable achievement." - Charis Wells, Stormy Teacup Promotions. "Lions is a stomper of a track and the perfect antidote to the onset of winter. There are many phases to Lions, with a barrage of change ups, and it is an extremely well grafted piece of alt-rock and an excellent debut." - Favorite Son Blog. "The title track [Bittersweet] is a prime example of emotive Scottish indie songwriting that twists and turns its way through worlds of yearning, angst and delicacy with barely a pause for breath. It's like a rollercoaster in that it climbs to the heights then drops back only to climb even higher...the whole thing then takes off like a rocket and the band just lift off to almost breathless degree as the salvo of guitars, rhythms, crashing drums and achingly emotive, powerful vocals, all carry you inexorably along with them and – it's gone – an absolute gem of a track. [Colours] - Andy Garibaldi (Dead Ernerst) 4-piece alternative/rock band from Glasgow. Melody, harmony, breakdown.
