About Roland Cespedes

The spark first happened for Roland Cespedes during his youth when his father gave him a bass guitar, explaining it to be the most overlooked but key structure in music. From there on it was nothing but practice and digging. During his youth he spent time in many local bands, playing as many different styles he could immerse himself into. At this time some major influences included The Doors, The Who, Slayer and later on Earth, Wind, and Fire & Chic.

Not too long after did hip-hop make it's way to taking him, getting drawn in by Eminem with his first 4 albums on constant heavy rotation. 50 Cent was also a huge influence being he was a New Yorker and was closely affiliated with Slim Shady. The attitude and lifestyle of hip-hop drew him in immediately, reflecting the lifestyle of his often forgotten neighborhood Gerritsen Beach, Brooklyn. Later on through sessions of digging for more hip-hop with substance, he garnered major influence from artists such as Redman, MF Doom, and DJ Premier.

A few years later when he gained more interest in playing dance music, he found himself not being able to actually dance to the popular music that many of his peers were listening and going out to see. So he did some digging, finding artists from the house & techno realm that blew his mind. He became obsessed with the music and proceeded to learning the roots of dance music in his city from Paradise Garage in Manhattan to STORM raves in Brooklyn. He immediately knew he had no other choice but to create, play, and push forward dance music with substance for the rest of his life.

Although music is his primary passion, Roland Cespedes grew up doing just as much graffiti in the 5 boroughs (Miami as well during his short time living there & if the moment is right any other city he visits) as he did immersing into music. The mindset of putting in constant work to perfect his style and getting respect, tagging every spot deemed worthy no matter the risk is forever ingrained in his person. Whether it was scaling buildings, climbing rooftops, or running on train tracks, he did it just to get a rep and have his name known in the streets of his city.

Roland Cespedes is a product of the old school Brooklyn & New York City lifestyle and an endless passion devoted to music that speaks his soul.
