About Pounders
POUNDERS are a rock power trio based out of the San Francisco Bay Area. Their style blends infectious melodies, catchy hooks, driving bass lines, and punchy songs with a dash of attitude. POUNDERS have a unique range of tastes that influence their music, including rock, punk, metal, dance, and hip-hop. The staple of the band is by far their live performance and the amazing energy they display to their audience. POUNDERS have taken the bay area music scene by storm and proudly wave the flag for the resurgence of rock and roll in California.
This trio literally owns the stage with their electrifying stage antics, creating buzz each time they perform, leaving audiences longing for more. In Summer 2012, their unforgettable stage presence and local achievements won them "Best Rock Band" in the inaugural Silicon Valley Sound eXperience Awards (now known as C2SV).
With the releases of "Chasing The Sun" in Winter 2010 and "Hard, Dirty, and Fast" in Fall 2012, POUNDERS have been persistent in getting their music out to the masses. In Spring 2011, the band released their debut music video "Chasing The Sun," filmed by San Jose filmmaker Frank Door, then in September 2012 they released their second music video for "Scream And Let It Go." Five of their songs have been in rotation on Live 105’s Soundcheck and a few of their songs have been featured in 107.7 The Bone‘s Local Licks program. POUNDERS have also acquired a DIY distribution deal with Hot Topic, releasing an exclusive edition of "Chasing the Sun" that was sold online and at various stores on the West Coast, plus their songs played in over 650 Stores across the country. The band is also known to win Bay Area Battle of the Bands competitions having won Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk BOTB in April 2013 and Nine Lives Club BOTB in April 2012!
Pounders have already had the honor of playing the main stage at San Francisco Pride in 2012 (with Karmin), Vans Warped Tour in 2013 & 2008, the "Bring It Back Tour" stage at Left Coast Live in 2010 (with Neon Trees and OK Go) and the main stage in 2011 (with The Limousines and The Postelles), the Morgan Hill Friday Night Music Series and Wine Festival, Santana Row Music Series, the Whiskey A Go-Go in LA, and various Hot Topic stores throughout California, plus they shared the stage with Alkaline Trio, Filter, Trapt, Alien Ant Farm, Riverboat Gamblers, Me Talk Pretty, and even Mike Herrera of MxPx at their own CD Release show.
What makes this band even more special is the individual accomplishments of the band members. Chris auditioned on stage in front of the judges for Season 2 of The X Factor in San Francisco, and has been featured in various music videos, including Neon Trees "Everybody Talks" and "Lessons In Love (All Day, All Night)," David Lynch "Crazy Clown Town," Wallpaper "F---ing Best Song Everrr," Lights "Banner," Seeking Empire "Fairytale," and The Relay Company "Mirage"; there’s even a cameo of Chris’ well-known pink mohawk in Taylor Swift’s video for "I Knew You Were Trouble!" Chris and Justin were back-up singers for 30 Seconds To Mars on Conan; Chris was on America's Got Talent and the Latin Grammy Awards, plus he performed live at the NBA All-Star Game in Las Vegas with Stomp; Justin has performed live on the Projekt Revolution Tour, hosted Nickelodeon's Slime Time LIVE, choreographs routines and performs in stage shows including Paramount’s School of Rock LIVE! and Street Drum Corps presents BANG!, and was featured in Drum! Magazines April 2007 issue as the "New Blood" drummer to look out for; and Alonso has opened for Exodus, Fishbone and Unwritten Law, plus he also plays bass in SoleJive and Shadow Beat Ritual, which played the California Music Fest in 2009.
