About Luxúria

Luxúria, previously known as Boneca Inflável, comes from Jacareí, São Paulo. One of the most talked-about breakthrough artists in Brazil, they’ve already been part of famous alternative-music festivals, such as Porão do Rock (Brasília), MADA (Natal), GO Music (Goiânia), besides other great festivals like Planeta Atlântida and Festival de Verão de Salvador.

Meg Stock, a former ballet dancer, lends not only her looks and strong voice to the band. “I believe that singing is dancing with your voice”, she says. She’s also responsible for most lyrics, “when I compose, I come up with something closer to MPB. Then they [her band mates] turn it into rock”. Meg says that brazilian singer Marisa Monte and American blues singer Etta James had a strong influence on her, which ultimately led her to becoming a singer. The rock idol, who would’ve guessed, loves MPB! “I love Chico Buarque, Los Hermanos and I’ll still be part of one MPB project”, she says, without any embarrassment. “There’s no such thing as being only ‘rock’. We listen to everything.”
But when it comes to the rock’n’roll influences, she explains, “our main influences are 70s-80s punk, like Sex Pistols, The Clash, New York Dolls and Ramones”. All those influences can be felt on their album, however its musical language can’t be reduced to “punk”. Indeed, there are distorted electric guitars, quick rhythm and strong vocals, but Meg herself explains, “there’s punk, there’s industrial influence and even a ballad among the songs. It’s not an aggressive album, it can be heard by anyone, not only by unconditional fans of rock”. Besides that, the recording and mixing processes were in good hands – a project made in New York by producer Maurício Cersosismo and Ron Allaire, who’s already worked with Avril Lavigne and Ramones.

Luxúria doesn’t come up with anything completely unexpected, however there is all the competence that lacks in most music newcomers, that just pop up every time. Maybe, it’s just all we need to enjoy a great night of fun and catharsis.
