Charlie Parr

Charlie Parr was amazing! Opening acts Yonder and Kiernan were terrific and served well in support of Parr's usual pared down presentation - the man, his guitar, and his voice. The venue was perfect! A couple of over-served patrons were a distraction, but too bad for them, they will probably have only a foggy memory (if any) of an excellent concert.

Intimate, moving and full of grit, there isn’t a better venue to watch a man like Charlie perform. A great, down to earth act with lots of character.

Utterly brilliant show - loved the drummer/percussionist/washboard player too. - Been following Charlie since my old band supported him 20 or so years ago [in London] and he was then, and remains so today, the most unique songster in the traditional sense of the word. Keeping the folk/country blues spirit very much alive but injected with observations and affiliations of the contemporary [fundamental] human condition. Deeply moving material and with civic mindedness at its core. Super skillfull and a true poet. He has become part of our family and indeed the soundtrack to much of our adult lives. Thank you Charlie Parr.

I have been listening to Charlie Parr for quite sometime now. Was an absolute pleasure to see him live. Even had a chat with him about his Mule resonator Guitar. A genuine, humble man with an extraordinary talent. If you have the opportunity, go see him. You won’t be disappointed!

I want to be Charlie Parr when I grow up. Need I say more? PS: wish he wasn't pressed on timing to let the following show come on. PS2: room is limited and the floor at Mercury Lounge is all at the same level, so if you're short, either get there early to save a spot up front or close your eyes and remember it's sound you came for.

Excellent! Our first time seeing Charlie live. It was so worth the trip! Charlie gives his best from beginning to end.

Charlie Parr performed an intimate show for about 100 fans in the lower bar-level of Babeville. He chatted with folks at the merch table, and provided a captivating one-man performance. Parr played many of his original tunes interspersed with interpretations of traditional blues numbers. His guitar and voice resonated with surprising clarity in the simple low-ceiling performance space. Throughout the night, Parr fretted jokingly that his songs were depressing. However, those present couldn’t get enough of the hard truths of which Parr sang. A midst the gray there was light as Parr told brief comic tales and navigated to a few spry up-tempo numbers. Charlie Parr drew from a deep well and shared generously with the audience.

Had an incredible experience at this venue and the musicians were rocking hard! Despite the heat we enjoyed it very much. We can’t wait to see Charlie Parr again soon!

As always with Charllie, another great show. He sounded strong, powerful and gritty. The acoustic and steel guitars sounds perfect with the setting sun, cool northern summer air and a lake in the background.

Authentic music played so well! Charlie sounds so good and he plays with captivating energy. Very casual venue in a beautiful setting that fit Charlie’s style comfortably. Good ol barnstomping music fun!

Charlie Parr is one of the greats. I will make an effort to see him whenever he comes anywhere near Milwaukee.

Fantastic! Over 800 in attendance An amazing performance with Lake Superior in the background and a cool breeze off of the lake. Perfection.

It was great to see Charlie casually interacting with people outside prior to the start of the gig and then see him live with his Mule Mavis resonator. He is a great human with a warm friendly demeanour who writes and plays authentic music from the heart which often captures the subtle details which make humans tick. Even though the support act failed to turn up he managed to entertain us with a lengthy set of pieces. I’ve seen many greats (including Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, Kate Bush, Mark Knopfler, Big Thief, etc.) and he does not disappoint. Thanks for coming to the UK.

Charlie is as impressive as always. He doesn’t just sing songs - he tells meaningful stories about the real struggles of life. He makes art. Oh and he shreds the blues, too.

I only got to listen for roughly 30 seconds as I was finishing with work and stopped in to listen to Charlie. The person at the door kindly told me that the show was sold out (which is no surprise) and that I would not be able to stay and listen because it it not fair to those who bought tickets if I stay to listen without paying. I understand and that is completely fair, but I did get to hear Charlie for those 30 seconds that I was at the front door 😇. Well worth the stop 😎. It’s nice to see Charlie back on stage after his injury. I will be attending a Charlie Parr show very soon...with a ticket or two in hand next time 😂

Awesome! Heard Charlie first time some years ago on Spotify, first time live though yesterday, in Malmö, hope he’ll be back! I had my 20-year old daughter with me, she’s so glad she followed. Thanks!

Charlie Parr was SO DAMN GOOD. Matt Arthur and the Bratlanders we're also fantastic. Had to buy their album. Listening to it right now!
