Charlie Parr was fantastic as always. Thank you to Stuart Opera House for hosting this free creekside concert. The venue and vibe were amazing and seeing Charlie perform in this beautiful and unique space was such a gift. Thought Charlie was well received in the Surly Garden Festival casual atmosphere. Still liked his song with the theme of 'Spread it Around' the best. Set selections may have been tempered to reflect a family type celebration. Wonder how he was received in Europe. One of the funniest songs I've heard had something to do with an uncontrollable temper.

I have seen Charlie a few times and he always delivers. An hour and a half set at full tilt finger picking all the way with a lot of favourites and crowd pleasers. The first time I saw him I knew very little about Charlie and went on spec, the sound engineer for the small venue leaned over to me and said "this guy is the real deal". And he still is, for sure!

Traveling outside my locality, across state lines, had trouble with street signage in this small metropolitan area. So happy there was an opening act. Pablo Center is *Five Star* in its own unpretentious way. The room, within its good acoustics, was a good fit for Charliie's work. Intrigued by his opening number (Spead it Around), perhaps a life philosophy of local action, a practical, sensible way to focus. Charlie (and Ed) were in fine form from the unpretentious entrance, and excellence musicianship, to his clarity in voice, to the directness and subtle cues in his wit. Just excellent. Was that Charlie 'breezing' through the New Arrivals section at Cheapo Records (26th & Nicollet) on MLKday '26? Maybe/maybe not. A week later, that site might be a real teargerker on several intense levels. Would travel far to a Festival with both Gillian Welch (and friends) and Charlie Parr's group amongst the billing credits. Charlie appears at ease with his value system as well as his own mortality. Five stars.

Charlie Parr put on a wonderful show in Forestville State Park at the old barn. HIs sound was crisp and clear along with his many stories. He played for 1 1/2 hours and we enjoyed the entire program. The historic barn was a perfect venue for the show.

This venue brought out Charlie's most animated performance! Charlie definitely enjoyed the old barn setting. Sorry to hear that due to funding cuts, the historic Forestville venue will be closing. Before the performance, I saw Charlie talking to guests outside and thought, "What a nice summer shirt he's wearing." Between songs he had quite a rant saying, "I hate this shirt." Oops Charlie, we'll have to disagree on that one.

Charlie always gives a great performance, it’s special in an old barn with a listening audience. It was difficult for me to sit through it, makes me want to move and dance. Codfish Hollow show will be a dancing crowd. Here’s a sound check picture. Thx Charlie

PS2: room is limited and the floor at Mercury Lounge is all at the same level, so if you're short, either get there early to save a spot up front or close your eyes and remember it's sound you came for.

Charlie Parr was amazing! Opening acts Yonder and Kiernan were terrific and served well in support of Parr's usual pared down presentation - the man, his guitar, and his voice. The venue was perfect! A couple of over-served patrons were a distraction, but too bad for them, they will probably have only a foggy memory (if any) of an excellent concert.

Utterly brilliant show - loved the drummer/percussionist/washboard player too. - Been following Charlie since my old band supported him 20 or so years ago [in London] and he was then, and remains so today, the most unique songster in the traditional sense of the word. Keeping the folk/country blues spirit very much alive but injected with observations and affiliations of the contemporary [fundamental] human condition. Deeply moving material and with civic mindedness at its core. Super skillfull and a true poet. He has become part of our family and indeed the soundtrack to much of our adult lives. Thank you Charlie Parr.

I have been listening to Charlie Parr for quite sometime now. Was an absolute pleasure to see him live. Even had a chat with him about his Mule resonator Guitar. A genuine, humble man with an extraordinary talent. If you have the opportunity, go see him. You won’t be disappointed!

Charlie Parr performed an intimate show for about 100 fans in the lower bar-level of Babeville. He chatted with folks at the merch table, and provided a captivating one-man performance. Parr played many of his original tunes interspersed with interpretations of traditional blues numbers. His guitar and voice resonated with surprising clarity in the simple low-ceiling performance space. Throughout the night, Parr fretted jokingly that his songs were depressing. However, those present couldn’t get enough of the hard truths of which Parr sang. A midst the gray there was light as Parr told brief comic tales and navigated to a few spry up-tempo numbers. Charlie Parr drew from a deep well and shared generously with the audience.

As always with Charllie, another great show. He sounded strong, powerful and gritty. The acoustic and steel guitars sounds perfect with the setting sun, cool northern summer air and a lake in the background.

Authentic music played so well! Charlie sounds so good and he plays with captivating energy. Very casual venue in a beautiful setting that fit Charlie’s style comfortably. Good ol barnstomping music fun!

It was great to see Charlie casually interacting with people outside prior to the start of the gig and then see him live with his Mule Mavis resonator. He is a great human with a warm friendly demeanour who writes and plays authentic music from the heart which often captures the subtle details which make humans tick. Even though the support act failed to turn up he managed to entertain us with a lengthy set of pieces. I’ve seen many greats (including Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, Kate Bush, Mark Knopfler, Big Thief, etc.) and he does not disappoint. Thanks for coming to the UK.

Charlie is as impressive as always. He doesn’t just sing songs - he tells meaningful stories about the real struggles of life. He makes art. Oh and he shreds the blues, too.

I only got to listen for roughly 30 seconds as I was finishing with work and stopped in to listen to Charlie. The person at the door kindly told me that the show was sold out (which is no surprise) and that I would not be able to stay and listen because it it not fair to those who bought tickets if I stay to listen without paying. I understand and that is completely fair, but I did get to hear Charlie for those 30 seconds that I was at the front door 😇. Well worth the stop 😎. It’s nice to see Charlie back on stage after his injury. I will be attending a Charlie Parr show very soon...with a ticket or two in hand next time 😂
