About VeRA

There are at least four artists with the name Vera.

1) A german DJ (www.myspace.com/veragoesdeep)

2) A two piece rock group from Reykjavík, Iceland

3) Vera Concilión. Mexican singer

4) Vera, Vera Juhrend a dutch Singer/Songwrier from Rotterdam, the Netherlands. (http://www.myspace.com/veraarev)

1)
Vera was born and raised in Heidelberg, an old student city in South Germany. During her childhood she was mostly surrounded by classical music and got her basic musical education by studying a few instruments.
At the age of 14 Vera listened to her first Hip Hop/ House Tape and was intrigued, but still had to wait another 4 years until she was old enough to explore that music at the night clubs. When she first entered a techno club in Frankfurt in 1993, she found what she had been looking for.
In the following years Vera started collecting mix-tapes and listened to uncountable DJ-Sets. Heidelberg and the surrounding cities had many underground house parties going on and Vera got a lot of inspiration there. She was also a regular guest at the legendary Techno club Omen in Frankfurt and it turned out she had two main preferences: House and Techno. She was into Chicago House, music from Detroit and loved the german sound, reduced music like Maurizio, Studio1, Thomas Brinkmann and the early Perlon and Playhouse releases.

After spending almost 7 years on the dancefloor, Vera started buying records to become a DJ. She got booked to clubs in her hometown and later also in the other places. She met promoters and DJs and got invited to play with them, which so happened with Roman Flügel, who invited her to play at Robert Johnson in 2003. Vera became Resident DJ at the club and moved to Frankfurt a few month later.
Her djing got more serious and she thought about becoming a professional DJ. Being a resident DJ at one of Europes most popular clubs got her a lot of attention and bookings all over Germany.
When the promoter of Frankfurts House Club Monza moved to Ibiza and started doing the weekly „Monza Club Ibiza" parties there, in 2005, Vera got her first international residency. Since her gigs at Space and DC 10 and after releasing her exclusive mix for Monza Ibiza she is performing in Clubs all over Europe, such as Panoramabar (Berlin), Goa (Rome) Tea-Bar (London), Moog (Barcelona), Zukunft (Zürich) and many others.
Vera stands for sophisticated, deep, electronic dancemusic, somewhere between house and techno. She has started producing her own music and her first track „nook" is going to be released on the spanish minimal label „cyclical tracks" this summer.

2)
A rock two piece rock group from Reykjavík, Iceland, formed early 2004 by Eiður Steindórsson (SnaFu, Future Future) and Einar Krisján Bridde both playing guitar.
At first the band vas a four piece, with Erling Páll Karlsson (Molesting MR.Bob and I Adapt) playing draums and Árni Hjörvar Árnason (Future Future) playing bass.

After a year as a four piece Erling and Árni both quit the band to focus on their other projects, but Eiður and Einar continued working as a two piece. In december 2005 a 5 song Demo was leaked on the internet and was spread fast inside the Icelandic underground scene. Due to the leak, Vera put the final mixed version of the demo on their website for everyone too listen.

Over the past two years Vera has gotten alot of attention and have become a kind of a cult underground phenomon with a small but strong fan base.

On first of December 2007 Vera released their first full length album "The Awakening". The album contains 14 songs (13 officially) recorded, mixed and mastered by the band at their own studio "The Basement". In march 2008 the band decided to upload their album for free on the internet (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IY1D32SF).
