About Corner Gospel Explosion

Corner Gospel Explosion was started in early 2015 by Bradley David Parsons. the original lineup featured Parsons on Drums/ Vocals, Tyler Parsons on Bass, Nick Graham on Guitar/ synth and Andrew Harris on Guitar. They recorded and released a self-titled EP in late January 2015.

After a few shows/ few months, Andrew Harris left to pursue a career. Their close friend Chase Mickel took his spot and became the primary keyboardist. They began writing music for their first full-length album.

In August 2015 they were named "Best band" by the Source Weekly. Shortly after, Nick Graham announced his departure. He was replaced by long-time friend Brandon Prinzing. The band hunkered down and began recording their first album "Tension".

In December 2015 they opened up for Sub Pop artist, Helio Sequence.

February 5th, 2016 CoGo released their debut album to a packed house at an old church. The album was well received and they started hitting to road to promote the release.

In May "Tension" was featured on the New & Notable section of the site noisetrade.com.

In June tragedy struck the band. Their keyboardist Chase Mickel passed away in a car accident. Despite the devastation, the remaining members decided to play a show in his honor. 8 days after he passed away, the band opened up for Universal recording artist SmashMouth.

The band then receded into their practice space to write an album in honor of their fallen friend and bandmate. The band had half of an album written when Brandon decided to leave the band to pursue his own project.

Down two members and without any real direction, Brad and Tyler made two decisions:

1. Finish writing and record that album for Chase.

2. To not replace any members, but forge ahead as a two-piece band.

In November 2016, Corner Gospel Explosion will release the 5-song EP "June". The album is filled with songs that either Chase had a hand in writing, or were written around the time of his accident.

It's been hard, but they continue to push forward. As long as they have to will to write and perform, Corner Gospel Explosion will always exist.
