About Young Minds
In the early 2000s a whole plethora of bands arrived to make guitar music exciting again. Acts such as The Coral, The White Stripes and The Strokes rejuvenated a stagnant guitar music scene which had been kicked into the background by hiphop and dance thanks to post-Britpop mediocrity. In recent years the country has found itself in a similar situation, where bands have formed a-plenty for the sole purpose of imitating their self-styled 'new rock revolution' heroes. The current economic climate seems to have left people apathetic about guitar music as the population seek the solace of familiar pop music for escapism, with over 20 music channels showing what seems to be the same 10 videos on a loop, daily. Apathy towards politicians had also blighted the country. However, the election of the coalition, the British riots, mass youth unemployment and bankers greed seems to be insinuating a turning tide, one which is certainly true where Young Minds are concerned. Formed by Ryan Ward as an antidote to apathy in the music scene, Young Minds briefly performed in 2009, without being able to capitalise on their promising opening gigs as differing circumstances with their band forced them to take a back seat in 2010. Now they are back with a revitalised image, emphasis and sound. Influenced heavily by the current status of the country, many aspects providing the catalyst for their bid to inspire a whole generation and change the face of music.
