I stumbled, quite accidentally, on the Black Jacket Symphony website. What's this? What is this? Can this be real? I got tickets for "Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon". I have been to every show in Albuquerque since then. They play at The Kimo, an iconic art deco theater. I have been amazed every time by the musical ability they demonstrate.
AC/DC Back in Black is one of the all time great albums. I can recall buying it the day it came out and playing it endlessly. Every song is a treasure. BJS did this album more than justice! It was sonically correct in all the elements of AC/DC that made them great. I enjoyed every song and the encore featured one of the songs that always gets me going; "It's a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll" I would say that BJS did just that! Top notch entertainment. Can't wait for "Pink Floyd The Wall"!

Really enjoyed the show, but it didn't live up to their mantra of "sound for sound" and "note for note". It sounded like some songs were done in a different key than the original. Also, it was obvious that some songs were not done in the vocalist's preferred key. The Black Jacket Symphony advertises "The group of hand-picked musicians changes based upon the album being performed". If you go to enough shows you will notice that there is a "base" group that never changes" with a few different musicians for specific shows. So far it sounds like we didn't enjoy the show.... nothing could be further from the truth. We have thoroughly enjoyed every show we have attended and plan to see many more. This is a group of excellent musicians and not your average "garage cover band". We highly recommend the Black Jacket Symphony to everyone looking for a great and enjoyable night out that doesn't "break the bank".

This is the 7th time I’ve seen Black Jacket Symphony. I really enjoyed the past performances but this one was not as good. Not sure if it was the genre or just the singers were having a bad night. As in the past the musicians played well but the vocals were just not as good as past performances. I still would go to another show but this one was a bit disappointing.

About The Black Jacket Symphony
The Black Jacket Symphony offers a unique concert experience through recreating classic albums in a live performance setting. A selected album is performed in its entirety by a group of handpicked musicians specifically selected for each album, with no sonic detail being overlooked--the musicians do whatever it takes to musically reproduce the album.
The performance is separated into two sets--the first set features the album being recreated as a true symphonic piece. The second set, which features a selection of the album artist's "greatest hits", opens in full contrast to the first set with an incredible light display and the symphony being much more laid back. The tone is set very quickly that this is going to be the musicianship of the first act paired with all the bells and whistles of a major rock and roll show.
