DJ Victores

When talking about the electronic music industry, there are plenty of artists & names. Some of them got huge success & popularity, some are not that big but the main criteria for this category of respected DJs & electronic music producers is quality. One of them is a russian guy known as Victores.

Playing now in one of the best Moscow venues Duran Bar, producing tracks supported by Roger Sanchez, Boy George & David Penn, collaborating with Nalaya Brown, Pasha NoFrost, Nino Bellemo & others, Victores looks forward of being an industry professional & respected dj & producer known around the world.

He began his DJ thing in the early 90's in Moscow doing school and college parties starting to develop his dj skills & trying the first steps of dancefloor psychology, crowd connection & gear use. At that time he was a student of Moscow's University Of Foreign Affairs, studying international law. But the growing interest to electronic music world pushed him to attend the best parties in Moscow during that era & to see the first professional russian DJs perform. By that time he decided to leave his career as a lawyer & start working as a DJ professionally.

The situation with the club scene in Russia and Moscow in particular was not that easy. Besides many aspects of professional approach to this occurrence, there were many other factors that not always allowed Victores to show his skills & personality to the crowd & professionals. Victores has worked in plenty of Moscow clubs, venues (big and small), bars & even restaurants where he continued aggregating the experience & developing his professional skills as a DJ. By that time Moscow became a true international city that never sleeps and almost every weekend plenty of big international artists came to Moscow to perform. And Victores followed by the deep thought of never stop learning, spent a lot of time listening to some big artists watching them in action & learning from them. His biggest influences are legends of the industry: Roger Sanchez, Erick Morillo, David Morales, Louie Vega (MAW), David Penn, Chus & Ceballos to name a few.

That's when Victores understood that being a good DJ isn't enough to become a true professional and he started producing his own tracks. "This road is much more difficult than simply DJ-ing.." - Victores says. He has passed a long way (and still does) until his productions got noticed by some true big names in the industry. He has releases on different labels including Underground Mjuzieek Digital from Austria, Dash Deep Records from Canada, Red Delicious Records from Mexico and The Warrior Recordings from NYC, USA. Victores always pushes himself forward. "I want that my productions grow and reach another level" - he says. Releasing an album & opening his own label are his future plans.

These days Victores works closely with Mikeee - a true representative of oldschool in Moscow. Combining old and new-school approach brings a good result as Victores & Mikeee productions are played by legendary Roger Sanchez, Boy George & David Penn among others.

In 2014 Victores decided to take the alter-ego of his name for more underground & deep productions. His first release under the name Quality Cat - Fallin, the collaboration with Mikeee came out in April 2015 on Canadian label Dash Deep Records.

Besides producing with Mikeee and on his own, Victores is always open to interesting & serious collaborations. He also has a project with another Moscow old-school veteran Alik Leto. They produce under the name Housetronix and have releases on respected labels like Hotfingers and Citrusonic (Eddie Amador's label). Their tracks are regularly played by Roger Sanchez, Boy George, Baggi Begovic, Eddie Amador, Lucien Foort, David Penn, Roog, Joe T Vanelli to name a few. 2016 was a productive year for this duo starting with remixing Boy George on Fetch Records and following with remixing David Penn on Urbana Recordings Compilation IBIZED 2016 and releasing their own LONG NIGHT EP on Horatio's label Natural Rhythm Ibiza Series. This was supported by Roger Sanchez, Wally Lopez, David Penn, Rene Amesz among others.

Musically, Victores tastes & preferences are extensive. He likes all quality staff from ethnic, jazz, disco, pop, easy listening etc. Professionally he plays House music mainly, but depending from the situation, the venue or the crowd, he takes it from more soulful and disco to deep, dark & even techno beats. "I can't play the same style & vibe constantly. My set is a journey which I enjoy as so (or even more) as the crowd does. That's what I learned and that's what influenced me. You can't be on the same way all the time, you have to turn left and right, up and down. The only thing that remains the same no matter what music I play, is the quality! I always put 100% or even more to what I'm doing, some people don't even understand it, but I believe it's right! You do it best way or no way! There's no middle for me!" - says Victores

And here we are: quality is the main point for Victores, production wise or DJ wise. To better sum this story Victores says: "I'm not a star, but I like when my name is associated with quality music or quality action no matter what. My goal is to be a true respected professional and to work with the professionals, aces if you want.."
