About Of Tyrants

Of Tyrants' story began in the 757 local metal scene in early 2014. After a few local band splits, OT was started by Kevin "Box" Clark (ex Erase the Enemy), Mike Patterson (ex I Said Farewell) and Greg Hughes (ex X-Legacy). Steve Lally, former guitarist for Life as a Weapon (MA) and drummer for Reckless (MA) joined soon thereafter. At their first meeting the two guitarists each began to notice that something was special - their styles clashed and blended to create a sound all its own. A hardcore feel mixed with the intricacies of new age deathcore produced a unique and heavy product capable of making the sternest of metal heads bounce. The writing and recording process immediately began for the debut EP. The group picked up long time friend Rob Taylor (My Own Vice) on bass, completing the group momentarily, but only to lose Mike Patterson to family issues. He was replaced by Mike Holland (ex I Time bomb). The band headed to Flagship Studios of Virginia Beach to record "These Days are Deadly." After their summer tour in 2015, vocalist Mike Holland was replaced by Chris Lindsay (Bury Me Breathing / ex Acerose). The tight knit line-up pushed the band to move to the next level, and the writing process for "A Step Into Darkness" began. Just before the band's second tour in Spring of 2016, guitarist Kevin "Box" stepped down to spend more time with family. On short notice, Kenny Wicker (ex Amid the Roar) began guitar duties and earned his place in the band on the road. Throughout the writing and recording process for the upcoming debut full length, "A Step Into Darkness," the band has been relentlessly playing as many shows as possible anywhere time and finances have allowed them to reach. The album is expected to be out in early Spring 2017, followed by a lengthy tour. In February of 2017, bassist Rob Taylor went his separate way from the band. Enter Austyn Testerman, long time friend and former guitarist for Amid the Roar. He has been an asset for our live show and will prove to be one of the best bassists around. Of Tyrants is on their own path at a white knuckle pace. With a perfect blend of death metal and hardcore style vocals, high energy live performances with "deathy" breakdowns, break-neck blasts and heartfelt grooves, the band will continue hitting the local scene and east coast hard. Come out to a show and experience the energy for yourself.
