About Deep Funk Project

Real Name: Ivan Gough & Gab Olivier
In The Beginning…
Since 1984, Ivan Gough has been cutting, mixing, tweaking, hacking and tuning on keyboards, computers and turntables. By 1989 he'd setup his first studio, left his day job, and was making a full time living out of his ever burgeoning DJ career.

His first commercially released track back in the early nineties was an instant success - a remix of Pendulum's "I Need You" which received chart and radio recognition from dons like Sasha, Paul Oakenfold and Pete Tong. Further years were spent perfecting his craft in the studio whilst DJing several residencies around Melbourne at night. Then his next release as Traveller In Motion, called "Believe", was just as well received, and was played five times on Pete Tong's "Essential Selection" UK Radio 1 program. The track was also licensed to Ministry of Sound's "Trance Nation" compilation which went on to sell over 400,000 copies worldwide.

From Strength to Strength
Late in 1999 he released his biggest track to date 'Accelerator', with studio partner Luke Chable. The track was an underground club smash in Australia and overseas, and was licensed to several compilations, including "Slinky" in the UK. It has remained one of the biggest tracks in Australian clubs, and was played on Radio 1 in the UK by numerous DJ's.

Over the last couple of years, Ivan has worked predominantly with local label Zero Tolerance, producing deep house, tribal, progressive and breaks tracks. As "Deep Funk Project" with Gab Oliver, he has had considerable success including a No.3 chart spot from Nick Warren. Ivan has also licensed two of his tracks for Nick's Renaissance CD.

More recently, he's collaborated with rising US progressive house star Austin Leeds, and has received considerable critical acclaim for his work as "Dark Alley" with Phil K and Luke Chable. "Dark Alley" have remixed top Australian dance talent Love Tattoo, Pound System, Nu Breed, and they've just finished two cracking remixes for Groove Terminator. Ivan's Deep Funk Project track 'Too Heavy' was also licensed by Max Graham for the "Tranceport 4" compilation, and local label Vapourised have licensed countless tracks for their mix CD compilation releases. In May this year, Ivan's "Digital Mind Control" project hit the No. 2 position on the Balance USA progressive house chart whilst his remix of "Ocean Wave" sat at No. 3. And as the Traveller, Ivan's track "Believe" is back in the UK club charts thanks to a new mix from Wookie Slut. Progressive house production don Harry Lemon8 recently announced that Ivan is now his favourite producer, and Warner Music have commissioned Ivan to produce a remix of legendary Australian pop icons "Icehouse".

Over the last 12 months, Ivan Gough's tracks have been played or charted by nearly every internationally recognized progressive DJ in the world.

In the DJ Booth
Needless to say, Ivan's comprehensive talent in the studio combined with his decades of turntable experience give him a devastating ability to rock a dancefloor. With more than 13 years clocked up behind the decks, there are very few DJ's in Australia with the same confidence and ability. Ivan has supported everyone from Nick Warren to The Orb. Now he receives bookings from around the world and most recently returned from a triumphant Miami Music Conference trip and played cities like New York. Ivan Gough is truly one of the rising stars of today's club culture…
