About Tiger Riot

Though Tiger Riot formed only last summer in 2009 on Long Island, the guys in the band embarked on this special journey years ago. Alexander Harper, Frederick Ardis, Daniel Ardis, Christopher Tagliaferro and Vincent Treglia have been working on music collectively dating as far back as 2006. They have formed and disbanded several other musical endeavors, leading to break-ups, fights, and disappointments that would dishearten the most optimistic musician. The guys have remained focused and driven through the many difficult trials and tribulations – and never let the shadows they temporarily resided in smother the light they always saw ahead. Their personal relationships go beyond their musical relationships, which is what they credit to always keeping them grounded through obstacles they’ve encountered. Dan and Fred are brothers, Vin and Dan graduated high school in the same class, Fred and Alex graduated high school in the same class, then they both went to college together where they met Chris. The core of Tiger Riot’s strength, is attributed to their close relationships and passion for listening to and creating the same music. The years spent together have taught Tiger Riot what it means to be part of a functional, creative, and satisfying effort. “We take this band extremely seriously and become absolutely professional when the time calls for it. We decided when we began Tiger Riot that we would always work the hardest we possibly could. We have a creative input on every aspect of the band which branches out much further than just writing the music. From artwork, to press pictures, to recording audio and video, we always try to stay creative and interesting. From this, we’ve been rewarded thus far and we’re therefore inspired to work even harder for even greater rewards. We want to make Tiger Riot a career. This industry is going through a transitional stage and we believe it’s up to us to control the destiny of the band. We signed with Brookvale records August 2010 because they have similar goals as us, for the band. Our relationship with them is very personal and communicative.” “We keep our goals short term and are always creating new ones. Too many people outside and inside the music business think too far ahead. We try to focus on what’s in front of us at the given time and this helps us come up with the right decisions.” “We play music we love to hear and we want to play music that others love to hear. Cliche or not, we believe music is communal. We want to give back what our favorite bands and musicians have given to us. Listening to music is the one thing in this entire world that every single person does or has done. There is something to be said about how special that is.” “Simply put, we want to continue to grow the band and reach as many people as possible. We want to be able to quit our day jobs and sustain a career doing the one thing we all love the most, writing and performing our music”. Tiger Riot released their debut album Look Up! on February 1st, 2011. Check the “Tour” section at www.tigerriot.com to find out when they’ll be performing in a town near yours. Their intense live sound and performance shines a whole new light on their songs. “In our opinion, Look Up! has only scratched the surface when considering everything we have stirring up. We have big plans and we’re not slowing down. We’ll be promoting Look Up!, playing out as often as possible and spending any other free time hard at work on new material. If putting out Look Up! has taught us anything so far, it’s just that…” Enjoy Tiger Riot’s debut music video for the song “Time is On Your Side” here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLcxNFVEh94 Tiger Riot’s debut album, Look Up! was self-recorded in their own bedrooms, basements, bathrooms, garages along with several other makeshift “studio” rooms. Their debut music video for the track “Time is On Your Side” off Look Up! is an honest representation of who Tiger Riot is and was during that time. “We had been brainstorming with Long Island native and good friend, director Stephen Vitale for a few months via video chat, since he’s now currently working in the film industry in Los Angeles. After scrapping several ideas, we decided on a beach performance video in order to pay homage to where we grew up (Long Island, NY). He was planning a visit to NY for the holidays and with only a week or so of free time, we knew we had to work quickly. Once home, he came down to a practice to get a vibe on how we performed live and to show us what kind of shots he’d be incorporating into the video. What was originally intended as B-roll/test shots for the video for “Damn These Electric Sex Pants!” (off Look Up!), ended up having such a natural/raw feel that we loved and didn’t want to let go of. It was all shot in Fred’s bedroom, one of the many places we recorded Look Up!, and we thought it would be great to have visual documentation of this time in our lives as a band. We chose “Time” because aesthetically it fit best with the footage. We kept all the “accidental” footage to cut back to – if we tried to re-record ourselves “hanging out at practice”, we knew it would come off as inauthentic – and Stephen recorded more footage of us playing along in time to the song. Overall, we wanted to give fans the feeling they were sitting in on a Tiger Riot practice. We knew Look Up! truly came full-circle as soon as we saw the finished video for the song “Time is On Your Side”. It is a great end to that chapter in our lives” The video for “Damn These Electric Sex Pants!” was also shot on the beach that same week on New Year’s Eve 2010. It will premier late spring/early summer 2011.
