About The PrimaDonna Reeds
JC Ryder and Karena Reiter make great music together!
Coming from seemingly opposite worlds, JC and Karena met in 2002, fell in love and married in 2007.
He was as far from Rock & Roll as it comes -- a classical guitar master who grew up in the East Village but didn't pay attention in the least to the very scene that surrounded him.
She was a rock-music riveted club promoter and fanzine publisher who always saw herself on stage. Always going to extra mile for the music, Karena would wander around the L.E.S. with a bucket of wheat paste and posters at 3 AM to make sure the posters promoting her shows got put up. One night she nearly landed in jail, having left the apartment hastily without her ID and being stopped by the police for 'posting up'.
But love knows no boundaries.
Even though Karena dragged JC 'kicking and screaming' to the Continental Divide and CBGB's to see bone rattling loud bands, the unlikely pair walked down the Aisle at the Carlyle Hotel. Karena insisted on eschewing featuring a cover band as entertainment instead of hiring all of her blue-black haired pals from the L.E.S. to entertain the bemused guests.
Then, it happened. Slowly, at first, but picking up the momentum of late. JC became a rock and roll electric guitar junkie spending more and more time wandering around Guitar Center.
The band came together after a few versions of the line-up and started gigging at the usual L.E.S. clubs starting with Ottos Shrunken Head. A longtime highly respected and dear friend of Karena's, Luigi Scorcia, was at the first show and every show. Luigi is a highly accomplished guitarist who traveled the world as Johnny Thunders' bassist after a stint with his Max's mainstay band, Luigi and The Wiseguys. He immediately saw the band's potential. Luigi signed on as the band's producer and used his well-heeled network to fast-track The PrimaDonna Reeds into the studio, where they have been hibernating for the past nine months. When they emerged, Luigi was the new guitarist.
The resulting CD, RED STILETTOS is just the beginning of the PrimaDonna Reeds' unique chemistry.
