The Rebel Riot Band

The Rebel Riot Biography Rebel Riot is a punk band from Yangon, Myanmar, formed in 2007 after the onset of the Saffron Revolution. During this time in Myanmar many people were protesting against the oppression and corruption of the military system. Rebel Riot at this time was made of six members, playing small underground gigs. They wanted to use music as a way to speak about freedom and the errors of the current political system. Now in 2014 there have been many changes in Rebel Riot. Over the course of seven years many members changed, but their values have stayed the same. Rebel Riot has released two E.Ps, Puppet Society (2013) and Fuck Religious Rules (2014). They had the opportunity to tour Indonesia twice in 2013 and 2014, playing at festivals such as the Libertad Fest. We are not just a band but also a punk community, we work together as a punk scene organising social activities to help people, standing together in solidarity with our brothers and sisters. Currently we run volunteer groups of Food not bombs projec ygn.
