Kev Purcell

Kev Purcell has over 25 years experience performing, writing, producing, & teaching music while specializing in rock, reggae and blues. Excelling with lead guitar, Kev has played in a variety of local bands including Superfly Crew, Poly Essence, Badda Skat, Oceanstone, and The Hip Abduction. He has been blessed to have opened for major acts including The Wailers, Steel Pulse, Slightly Stoopid, Rehab, Yellowman & Fortunate Youth. Kev regularly performs at bars and venues all around the Tampa Bay area with past performances at Jannus Live, State Theater, & Raymond James Stadium. He has also played a variety of music festivals such as One Caribbean Music Festival in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Blackwater Music Festival at Spirit of Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL and Irie Vibes Music Festival in Forest City, NC & Ridgeway, SC.

Kev integrates many musical elements that set him apart from the competition by incorporating various diverse genres and using a large catalog of originals and covers at his live shows. His guitar sounds are an extension of J.J. Cale, while also developing his own innovative style with the use of various advanced techniques. Kev's professionalism always shines with his knowledge of music theory and extensive experience performing live. Kev’s use of unusual chords, progressions, voicings, versatile strumming, funky grooves, and composed catchy melodies captivate the younger alternative rock and older classic rock fans who have an appreciation for unique guitar riffs and solos. He is an inspiration to many of his fans and has mentored many aspiring guitarists that have created their own bands.

Kev also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology from the University of South Florida, has instructed guitar at Music Showcase, and managed sound crews for Marshall Center/USF Sound & Light.
