Funk Assassin is a continuation of DJ Amul’s bass avatar. The 30-year-old fine-tuned his craft as a DJ Zenzi and Zenzi Mills, two of Bombay’s legendary nightlife venues, renowned for their tastes in music and art , forward-thinking bookings and of course, their skilled resident DJ team, that Amul was a part of from 2007 till 2012. His flawless technical skills, an ear of selecting the best tunes and all-around sunny attitude have always made him the person you can count on.

His DJ career kicked off at 19, when he learned the art of DJing from the legendary Grandmaster Jo, who is responsible for several of the city’s best DJs gracing the console at various clubs and festivals. He hasn’t looked back since performing at the country’s top clubs like Blue Frog, Aurus, Canvas, Wink, Lagerbay, Bonobo, The Zoo & Shalom [Delhi], Blend [Chennai], Bacchus [Bangalore]. He also earned a spot at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender by winning the nation-wide Pepsi Dub Station DJ Contest.

On his musical voyage, which perfectly intersects the quality/quantity axis, he has collaborated and performed with end number of Indian & International DJs, Producers and Musicians. He has played with bigwigs like B.L.O.T, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Shiva SoundSystem (U.K), Funk D'Void (Barcelona), Pawas Gupta (Daso & Pawas, Germany), Ravi Chari Quartet and many other Vocalists, Percussionists and Musicians.

After founding & successfully operating Beat Station a Dj/ Producer academy in Mumbai he has mentored several known Djís in the current circuit through this platform. His teaching efforts have been rewarded with recognition: he was part of the judging panel at the Palm exhibition Dj Contest in 2012. He continues to juggle his multiple skill sets with much aplomb, simultaneously learning, giving back to the DJ community and always staying hungry for more.
