About Marcin Koziol

Marcin Kozioł - classical guitarist from Poland. He started his music education at the age of 7. In 2019 he obtained a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk. He also studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London in the class of professor Robert Brightmore.
Marcin is active as a soloist as well as chamber music player organizing his own artistic projects. He has performed in Poland, Sweden, Germany, Russia, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Hungary, Italy and Great Britain.
Marcin Kozioł is also a performer and promoter of contemporary music. As a result of cooperation with composers such as: Piotr Moss, Jacek Rabiński, Črt Sojar Voglar,
Piotr Jędrzejczyk and Aleksandra Chmielewska many pieces for guitar with various instrumental ensembles were written and performed for the first time by him.
In 2018 Marcin recorded a Concerto for guitar and string orchestra by Jacek Rabiński dedicated to him together with the Polish Radio Orchestra "Amadeus" under the direction of Agnieszka Duczmal.
Marcin Kozioł is the winner of the Grand Prix and the first solo and chamber awards at international competitions in Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, the Czech
Republic and Slovenia.
In addition to competition awards Marcin Kozioł is a laureate of prestigious awards and scholarships such as:
• Award of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage
• Award of the Minister of Science and Higher Education
• Nomination of the Rector of the Medical Academy in Gdańsk in the competition for
the "Red Rose" Award for The best student in the academic year 2012/2013
• Scholarship of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute "Polish Culture in the World"
• Cultural Scholarship of the City of Gdańsk

His achievements in the field of chamber music include a double prestigious award of the Mayor of the City of Gdańsk for Young Artists in the Field of Culture (2014), an invitation to a concert tour in the United States including concert at Carnegie Hall in New York as a laureate of the World Music Competition IBLA Grand Prize (2015) and in 2016 an invitation to compose and perform music for the performance Ucieczka/Flucht in cooperation with the German theater Das Letzte Kleinod during a tour covering 53 performances, e.g. in Gdynia, Poznań, Piła, Frankfurt, Berlin, Hannover, Lüneburg and Bremerhaven.
The artist has several CD recordings with world premieres among others a monographic album with solo and chamber guitar music from Polish composer Piotr Moss and a CD with Balkan chamber music dedicated to world peace.
Since 2019 he has been the owner and editor-in-chief of the Experimental Workshop record label and music publishing house which is focused on publication of contemporary music.
