About Nick Solomon

Nick Solomon's jazz-conscious bari-tenor is often compared to Al Jarreau, Sting, Adam Levine, and Michael Bublé. His major vocal influences start with Sam Cooke and extend to Stevie Wonder, Al Green, Tony Bennett, Harry Belafonte, George Benson, Bobby McFerrin and many others. Nick often accompanies himself with ukulele and/or backing musicians.

On percussion, Nick specializes in hand-drumming (congas, cajon, etc.). His self-designed café kit is perfect for accompanying singer-songwriters. He is equally comfortable on large stages, mic'd up behind congas and accessories. "Good percussion adds texture and makes your music 'sound expensive,'" he says.

Nick has Oklahoma roots but began his professional career in local bands while a college student in Columbia, Missouri. He then established himself in Nashville, touring and recording with folk and jazz acts, leading his own projects, and performing regularly in local theatre. His a cappella roots music ensemble the Southern Fly-By-Night Singers released an EP (hear it on Spotify). Nick moved on to New York City, where he studied jazz and classical voice.

Having returned to OKC, Nick is honored to perform with ace musicians from this region. He is currently featured vocalist with the R&B/urban jazz group Robert Banks & Positive Production.
