Humanfly

Between post-metal, psychedelic post-rock and whatever other post-genre label that gets writers juiced, comes Leeds based hardcore turned prog merchants, Humanfly. Formed in the early part of the decade, the band offer epic, metallic journeys through huge Neur-Isis style heaviness and Pink Floyd via Mogwai atmospherics. However, where those bands have lately abandoned the crushingly heavy riffs that made them so appealing, for Humanfly it remains the focus. Vocals are used sparingly, focusing primarily on building thematically through the music. Not yet well-known outside their native UK, the recent CD release of II by US label 20 Buck Spin will introduce Humanfly to a larger audience and push the band to the forefront of the post-post-rockmetal 'genre'.
