About Xsessiv

David Lotay (Xsessiv) was born in London, England and was brought up being influenced by music such as house, hip hop, garage and early 90's jungle. He moved from London to Perth Australia at the age of 15 and started attending club and warehouse rave parties in the late 90's at the time Drum & Bass was making it's mark in Perth. In December of 1999 Dave got on the microphone at a rave called Prism when there were no MC's around at the time, this was the start of a major turning point in Dave's life. He soon became a common name on flyers and posters performing at events for Perth's all ages rave scene. In early 2000 David was booked to MC for DJ Fresh & Maldini from Bad Company, being still only 17 at the time he managed to swiftly get past the bouncers when their backs were turned and made his way to the booth to perform in front of the strongest Drum & Bass crowd Perth had seen. From 2001 onwards Xsessiv became a common name in Perth's growing Drum & Bass circuit and eventually became a chosen MC for many touring international DJ's. Being booked to fly around Australia performing at the most memorable large music festivals such as Ministry of Sound, Gatecrasher, Creamfields, Delirious, Sunshine People, Science Fiction, Vibes on a Summer Day, Summerdayze, Parklife, Sunshine People, Digital, Sonik and many more. During Xsessiv's career he was honored to become an official resident MC for Perths major music promotors and club nights such as MFI, Delirium, Loaded Dice, Raggabone, Calibre, Drum Club, Trafik, Rise, Origin, Inhibit, Boomtick and more. He was chosen by Pendulum as their official MC for their Hold Your Colour tour and in 2014 was personally chosen by Sigma to join them on their Australian & NZ tour. Xsessiv is personally requested by DnB legends LTJ Bukem, Danny Byrd, Cyantific and DJ Marky when they tour Australia. Xsessiv is the official MC for Shockone and they have performed together for 10 years, touring Australia and overseas for major music festivals such as Stereosonic, Big Day Out, Pyramid Rocks, Groovin The Moo, Southbound, Paradise in Bali, Future Music, Creamfields, Breakfest, Origin and many more. In 2007 Xsessiv was awarded Perth Dance Music Award for Best MC, he went on to win the title again in 2013. Having always had a love for DJ'ing, he would play Hip Hop and R&B sets at private parties when he was 15, around this time he also got into performing scratching and turntable tricks. He qualified to enter the 2003 Perth DMC DJ Championships and performed a nervous 6 minute scratching and juggling routine to a crowd of 1200 people. Xsessiv started producing music in 2003 after being shown Cubase by none other then Rob Swire from Pendulum. He would ride his bike to Rob's house and record vocals in exchange for sitting in and watching studio sessions before they eventually took over the world. In 2004 Xsessiv's first solo produced track 'Strings Attached' had found it's way to infamous Knowledge Magazine UK who printed a feature and reviewed it in an article. A few years later Xsessiv was honoured to be interviewed and featured again by Knowledge Mag after winning #1 in their Unsigned Artist Competition of 2012 with "Free", a track he remixed for Perth's local hip hop collective The Stoops. During his music production career, Xsessiv has had Drum & Bass, House and Dubstep tracks signed to labels such as Central Station Records (Ministry of Sound Australia), Take Off Records, Interphase Recordings, Loops Collective and Xelon Entertainment. In 2014 Australian Drum & Bass pioneer Greg Packer signed 'Elusive', a house track produced by David & Samuel Muller (Mesh). Greg produced a Drum & Bass remix which reached support from LTJ Bukem and Australian radio shows. Recently David has produced tracks that have had support from artists and groups such as DJ Marky, Random Movement, LTJ Bukem, Stamina and Rinse FM London.
