LRKR

Ambient electronic music producer LRKR, born Alex Erker, draws inspiration from World Music in addition to often ignored sounds from everyday objects. A drummer at heart, LRKR focuses on rhythm to craft his sound. On top of that, he layers a combination of sampled strings and flutes, plus live sounds from trumpet, didgeridoo, piano and guitar. To LRKR, literally everything can be used to produce an interesting song – chains, lighters, water-filled cups, photocopiers, toothbrushes and singing bowls - all make their way into his unique music. In 2015, LRKR self-released his first EP Wait Too Long which the blog thrdcoast refers to as “… the kind of music that draws you into a hazy, lose-track-of-time kind of flow, while still keeping you on your toes.” Soundfix endorses it saying, “make sure to listen to the darkly ambient beats.” LRKR, one of 8 children, was born in Kansas City, Missouri and grew up in St. Louis. Currently, he resides in Bushwick, Brooklyn and performs regularly at local venues. He is also a photographer and knows how to knit and make stained glass. Give it a whirl.
