About Hyporium
Hey everyone, we're here to give everyone a little insight on who and/or what Hyporium is. It took us a little while ourselves, to shape this music, or idea so to speak, to where we could confidently give you a defiant background on what we are and what we do! Hyporium started in the basements of Dewitt,MI with a somewhat different line-up, and entirely different sound. It was initially a group of friends all playing music around the Lansing area, and had a blast doing it! As time progressed, some of which members sought different directions. Whether it was to pursue different music endeavors, or go down an entirely different life path, ultimately the band was down to two members, Tristan Smith (Drums) and Alex Torres (Lead guitar). There was a bit of down time in between changing members, had a few position tryouts here and there, with nothing really sticking as far as legitimate new members. Not too long into our search we had our first solid lead. Kyler Miller (Vocals) had been directed towards us through a mutual friend. Him being from Jackson, MI and the band stemming from Dewitt,MI , things were very scratched out. We got him to come to practice, and from there I would say most things started to fall into place. He committed himself to Hyporium after this first practice, and we were glad to have him. From there we started filling out the roster, piece by piece. From there we introduced Jay Blossum (Ex Bassist) and Cody Howe (Rhythm Guitarist) to Hyporium, and at that point we had our first lineup as a new band. Jay and Cody both added their own flavor into the band, as well as Kylers, with what Tristan and Alex already had going, and it was turning into something fun. At that point the whole vision for the band kind of came to. We molded Hyporium into the poster-child for Good Times. FUN. That's what we promote. We like to pride ourselves on a HIGH energy show, with positive vibes, and good times for everyone!! We dont care what you like, what you do, who you are...we just want an awesome environment to come and enjoy themselves in with rad people doing rad things. If you don't like the music, no biggie, everyone likes having fun!! That, we WILL do. Always having fun. As time progressed, we went through a few member changes, specifically at the bass position. For most of the experience, we welcomed back Isaac Cisneros (Rhythm/Bass guitar) as basically our "fill-in" player. Isaac was in the band from the very beginning of the Hyporium days. He had parted ways due to landing a really good job, which no one blamed him for doing so. As time progressed, and Isaac saw that we were still keeping the band going, knowing we needed a bassist, he decided to step in and do what he could pertaining to his work schedule. At this point things are good, we have a solid line-up, everythings in motion. Problem is, we start progressing fairly rapidly, and we see some tour opportunities start to arise. Isaac, having his job, can't really partake in touring. This is where we like to stress the importance of loyalty and family in Hyporium. Isaac is a huge asset, as is everyone in this group of dudes. We understand our brother can't really indulge in the lifestyle like the rest of us, but still has his heart in it. So this is where we added Johnny Craig Ferdinand (Bass) to the Hypori-Crew!! We met Johnny out at a show, and at this point, we had a vibe going for this band. Johnny met that vibe perfectly. Everything at that point was set in motion, for us to really take things to the next level. Currently, we have a bit of a "Hypori-team" that I'm more than happy to have involved as we live out this experience. We have Kyler Miller on vocals, Cody Howe on rhythm guitar, Tristan Smith on drums, Alex Torres on lead guitar, Johnny Craig on bass, and Isaac Cisneros as our "DH" so to speak but usually is our third guitarist at the shows that he can be apart of. Aside from the band members, we have Rocky Maldanado who helps us a ton behind the scenes, as well as Michael Beck and countless others who have committed there time and efforts for this band, and for that we are so thankful. Why we stress the importance of this, is not being only a band, but hopefully a movement. A family of sorts. Where we can all be ourselves and have a blast doing so!! All in all, We all thank you very much for taking the time to dig a little deeper on the band. We have done so much and gained so much in past year that we are so excited to see where the future takes us in our future endeavors. We recently recorded at Metro 37 Studios, and released our first ever single "That's What She Said" on Reverb and Youtube. In the process of putting out an E.P. in the next year as well as new merch and new music. We're booking all over Michigan and starting to branch out to different regions of the U.S., so if you see us coming to a city near you come on out and say hi to your friendly neighborhood dudes in Hyporium. We like to say to all of you #Hyons out there #GetHype If having a good time was a genre, Hyporium would be its poster child.
