About Warsaw - BAND

Warsaw is the latest of a handful of new San Diego bands that has sparked from the disbanding of San Diego’s ILYA in 2015 (other sparks include Dreams Made Flesh, Hexa and KATA). Warsaw is a four piece comprised of Demetrius Antuña and John Mattos (both formerly of ILYA) along with Rebecca Antuña and Lance LaFave of KATA. Warsaw has taken a few elements from both of these bands, but have wholly defined and refined a sound all of their own. With a much more straightforward approach to song structures yet maintaining a unique dark, sexy and sinister sound with an almost cinematic mood.

With their first release, a self-titled Ep comprised of 6 tracks, Warsaw covers the gamut of dark moods. Starting it off with the smooth, smoke-filled room vibe of Shadows (which the band also has a music video for), to the upbeat and dancy synth-laden Machines, to the uber-gothic organ driven Haven. Then you start to hear hints of their other bands KATA and ILYA in the doom pop, Marrow, and the dreamy soundscape, Stranger. The closing track is a reprise of Haven, taking a more emotive approach, stripping it down to a Fender Rhodes allowing Rebecca’s voice to take the forefront.

With the release of their second EP, 'Wires', Warsaw has solidified their cinematic post-punk sound and taken it to new depths.
