About C.I.A (Call It Anything)

It all began with a marvelous lab accident in 2004. A group of rogue Nashville scientists were attempting to isolate the active ingredient in Mile Davis’ late electric period, and similar musics. How could a completely free-form session of improvisational music create such pleasing textures, even in the absence of being really high? After intense probing of test subjects like Live Evil, Can, and Battles, our men stumbled upon a hidden doorway to another galaxy. Or maybe it was just a good groove without too much noodling. Either way, the formula was distilled, bottled, given a meaningless name, and now comes straight to you in the form of Call It Anything. CIA is a large, semi-revolving cast of local musicians and beyond. Jazz-influenced, but by no means homogenous, the group has no defining principle for musical arrangement. Each performance is a unique flower with its own redeeming qualities, we promise. Because we care. Despite constant accusations, the band is neither on acid, nor condones the use of mind-altering substances. But if you’re the kind of person who has a short attention span, or pop sensibilities, it might improve your experience. -- J. Bonomo Chief Scientific Officer, AZDU www.callitanything.com
