N.I.B. : Nativity in beatdown In the notorious H8000 area of Belgium the lifeblood of a band called ‘xVICIOUSx’ was found. At the end of the year 2009 some friends who knew each other from going to local hardcore shows dreamed about doing the same thing their straight edge idols were doing. Thoughts turned into actions and so the heavy hardcore powerhouse was born by the hands of Jens Bonne and Sam Crevits. They began rehearsing, joking around, and throwing in some riffs alongside the numerous breakdowns. Soon enough Thomas Lambert, Davy Beeckman, Nathan Vander Vaet and Willem Lahaye joined the beatdown extravaganza. With a focus on playing shows and having fun, and being themselves this train was unstoppable. LET’S GET VICIOUS October 2010, nervous as kids on their first school day, the collective hit the stage, ready to give their all. From that moment on, xVICIOUSx never changed its attitude. They stayed positive, goofed through every show and brought violence and a big smile to a venue near you. Sticking to the tagline: LET’S GET VICIOUS. Their positive attitude sparked and soon their whole scene was burning. Never ever having a rest, the boys crawled on every stage that gave them a chance. With a new year a minor setback hit the band when Thomas couldn’t work the high demand of shows the band had. So Dylan Ghesquiere jumped on the never stopping rollercoaster of shows. Later to result in their first eurotour in 2012 with ‘Headshot’. No weekends at home for them, just the road and a passion that needed to be fed. A change of ‘Values’ 2013 was the year of change. After building a strong live performance, the band was ready for their next leap of faith. Recording their first EP at Safehaven Recordings, later to be named VALUES. In the process of recording the band parted ways with their guitarist Nathan because of musical differences. But with a departure comes an arrival, Kenny De Rammelaere joined the jolly bunch. Releasing their VALUES EP in 2014 through REALITY RECORDS brought xVICIOUSx to new levels, new countries, new people,… It even made their dream come true, in the summer of 2013 they destroyed the stage of Ieper Hardcore Fest. The bullet was shot, the machine was freshly oiled and ramming its way through Europe. During the year 2014, the band took another beating losing Kenny and Willem due to personal- and musical differences, a change of values. Still being friends, they helped out finding a new drummer from Antwerp called Yannick Van Echelpoel who’s drumming in CHIKATILO as well. He had been supporting the band since their first shows. With him came a new wind that ignited the will to rage again. Working hard, playing more shows and focussing on a new way to fuel the fire. XXIV 2015 was the year of end or break, going all the way to Studio 6 in Swindon (UK) to record their first full album. Months of travelling back and forth gave birth to the lovechild of frustration, pain and tears in 2016 listening to the name of ‘XXIV’. Out of the blue, the crowd was reminded that the band had evolved from your local comedy show to a full blown chaos with a bowtie of jokes and laughter. Lots of people that never liked the band had a change of heart and admitted that this band wasn’t your average and ordinary on a heavy hardcore show. But a passionate group of people with a message, willing to grow and reach new levels, meet new people, tour new countries and most of all put a big grin on the way too serious hardcore landscape. xVICIOUSx, not your hardest, but surely your most unique heavy hardcore experience till this day. 5 dudes playing heavy hardcore.
