About Mike Powell
"A Mike Powell performance is an exhibit in honest talent" New York State Music.
The Boston Globe coined his nickname, "The Polite Rebel", back in 2010 in a column that featured the prolific songwriter and his unique personality. Powell's lyric driven songs first began to seep their way into the ears of folk music fans after touring the country alongside Sara Lee Guthrie and receiving regular air play on SiriusXM Radio. His song "Twenty One Rounds" which was written as part of the Acoustic Guitar Project was met with international acclaim. He's released three solo albums including his most recent "Tied To The Rail" in 2017.
Mike Powell is a throw back with a passion for words and storytelling reminiscent of Prine, Dylan and Van Zandt. He has shared the stage with Martin Sexton, Shooter Jennings, David Lindley, Ike Rielly, Chris Trapper, The Bones of Jr Jones, Pete Francis, Mondo Cozmo & more.
