About "Acoustic Africa"
Listen to the power of song, of singing, in the voices of Dobet Gnahoré, Manou Gallo and Kareyce Fotso. After a first edition in 2006 & 2007 with Habib Koite, Dobet Gnahore & Vusi Mahalasela, the second edition in 2010 & 2009 with Habib Koité, Oliver Mtukudzi and Afel Bocoum the third musical journey focuses on the voices of the African woman . If the power of the song is a reality in many places, it is a certainty in Africa. So what do you expect when African singers express themselves: this power is a fact! Three voices of women from the Ivory Coast and Cameroon, three stage presences, three outlooks, three movements... but sharing the same spirit. And this, a dynamic song, deeply rooted in an approach that never denies its ancestral roots but welcomes influences from African and Afro-American movements such as funk, blues and Afro-pop. It is a part of Africa that sings its deeply feminine side, with the help and complicity of another woman, the renowned American guitarist, Leni Stern, whose most recent experiences on African soil have been nourished by the best raw musicians, most notably Bassekou Kouyaté, while learning to play the ngoni. Three essential musicians bring this ensemble of women a rhythmic and melodic environment of the highest level: Aly Keita, the master Malian balafonist, amazing drummer Wendlavim Zabsonre (Burkina Faso) and versatile Malian guitarist Zoumana Diarra. At the heart of this group, the three African singers give their songs a power multiplied by shared experiences. Acoustic Africa IV: Habib Koité - Vusi Mahlasela - Ian Herman - Mama Koné - Abdoul Wahab Berthé - Mongezi Ntaka
