About Morning Bound

The adventurous trio Morning Bound is a new collaboration between vocalist Tammy Scheffer, vocalist/bassist Panagiotis Andreou and drummer Ronen Itzik. The three musicians have been an integral part of NYC’s jazz, world, and progressive-music scene and toured with their respective projects for the last decade. Scheffer has been working with producer Eyal Amir (project RnL) and keyboardist Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), as well as a leader of several jazz and folk projects. Panagiotis made a name for himself as part of internationally touring groups Now Vs. Now and NY Gypsy Allstars, and Ronen has been an in-demand drummer for some of NYC’s most forward-thinking jazz groups. In 2012 these performers got together for a casual gig in Long Island City and played as a trio for the first time, and the explosive energy that followed ensured many follow-ups to that first musical meeting. Since then they’ve played several residencies in the NYC area, creating a sound that is heavily rooted in grooves and complex rhythms, makes unconventional use of vocal effects and various percussion instruments, and is topped by unpredictable playfulness. The trio lives somewhere in the realm between pop, rock, jazz, and Mediterranean soul. In April 2012 Morning Bound recorded a video session for CongaHead.com and they’re currently working towards their debut EP. INDIVIDUAL BIOS Tammy Scheffer Belgian born and Israeli grown vocalist Tammy Scheffer has been working with several big bands and jazz groups in the NYC area, while continuously leading and composing new music for her various projects. She also appeared on videos Produced by Project RNL’s Eyal Amir, together with Dream Theater’s keyboardist Jordan Rudess, making a name for herself in the Progressive Rock scene. Most recently, she performed at the Heineken Jazz Festival in San Sebastian, Spain, the MISA Festival in Shanghai, China, and the Red Sea Jazz Festival in Eilat, Israel. Panagiotis Andreou Grammy nominated bassist & vocalist Panagiotis Andreou performs worldwide with several internationally touring groups. He is most known for his work with Now Vs. Now, a collaboration with Jason Linder and Mark Guiliana, and international world music band, the NY Gypsy Allstars. A sonic alchemist, he is transforming electronic jazz, Latin and Balkan music through cross-fertilization, freely mixing heavy doses of funk, dazzling vocal improvisations and rhythmic variety across traditional genre boundaries. Al Di Meola calls Panagiotis a “rarity that the music world here needs in his ethnic knowledge and musical diversity!” His remarkable ability to integrate an Eastern European/Balkan harmonic and rhythmic sensibility with the funky polyrhythms of Afro-Cuban music and global jazz is unparalleled. Husnu Senlendirici, virtuoso clarinetist and Turkish icon with whom he has collaborated, has referred to Panagiotis as “a one-of-a-kind bass player” whose “unique finger technique is like making love to the strings.” Cuban master percussionist Pedrito Martinez, another long-time associate, goes as far as to assert that he marks a “new era in the history of latino bass playing.” Ronen Itzik Ronen Itzik is a multi-talented performer and composer. Audiences worldwide are captivated by his virtuosity, profound musicality and the passion he brings to performances. He has performed and recorded with such jazz greats as Lee Konitz, Kenny Werner, Roy Hargrove, Jon Hendricks, Hiromi Uehara, Marcus Roberts, and Arnie Lawrence, among many others. Since his arrival in the United States in December 2000, he has performed throughout the country, as well as in Canada, Central and South America, Europe and Israel, with a wide array of musicians. After moving to New York City in 2005, Ronen began recording and performing with numerous critically acclaimed artists and groups, covering many different styles fitting seamlessly into every role he has taken on. Electro groove, unlikely vocals, pots and pans. Featuring: Tammy Scheffer, Panagiotis Andreou, Ronen Itzik
