Future Static

Melbourne five-piece Future Static create an exhilarating synthesis of alternative, melodic, and progressive to shape a unique brand of emotional heavy music which is unlike any other. Now one of Australia’s most talked about breakthrough acts, Future Static return with potent new single Venenosa (Spanish for poisonous), out via Wild Thing Records on July 20, 2022.

The group’s follow up to the acclaimed release of 2021 single Waves (new singer Amariah Cook’s debut), which saw them explode onto the international heavy music consciousness, Venenosa reveals a heavier, more intense side of the band which we haven’t seen before. Venenosa was produced by Chris Vernon (Windwaker), with the music video helmed by fabled director Colin Jeffs (Alpha Wolf); a visually spellbinding cinematic music video with haunting horror scenes akin to iconic films such as The Shining and The Evil Dead.

Having built an impressive live show, coupled with their always honest connection with the crowd, the group released the EP Fatalist in 2020; a raw, introspective exploration of self-destruction. Fatalist garnered rave reviews off the back of heavy and emotionally complex singles such as Choke, Dead End, and title track The Fatalist; including additions to Spotify editorial playlists ‘Rock Out’ & ‘Homegrown + Heavy’. Future Static’s effortless flow between crushing riffs and bright, soulful melodies saw them become a standout young talent for heavy audiences, breaking out of the renowned Melbourne alternative scene. The band went on to make undeniable waves on the Australian touring circuit, landing supports with local frontrunners Windwaker, Stepson, and Belle Haven, plus sharing the stage with UK’s Casey.

Following the departure of founding lead vocalist Brianna Marsh, the group added new front-woman Amariah Cook to the lineup. Born in Melbourne and raised in Barcelona, Amariah’s debut performances turned heads, headlined by her charismatic personality, endless energy, spontaneous stagecraft, and incredible proficiency in both in harsh and clean vocals, which have an unexplainable timeless quality to them. Future Static’s pulsating live performances led them to inking deals with Wild Thing Music Group (management), Wild Thing Records (label), and Destroy All Lines (agent).

With Amariah’s fresh, powerful voice rising above intricate layers of depth and atmosphere, Future Static created an unforgettable anthem with new single Waves, released in November 2021, which elevated the group’s profile to another level. Coverage of Waves included spots on Spotify’s ‘Homegrown + Heavy’, Apple Music’s ‘Breaking Metal’, ‘Breaking Hard Rock’ & ‘New Music Daily’, Triple J’s ‘Short Fast Loud’ & ‘Home & Hosed’, ‘Rage’ (ABC TV), and Kerrang! Radio’s Featured Artist Of The Week proclaiming “big things are on the horizon for this band”. Maniacs stated Future Static are “firmly positioned on the cusp of being one of 2022's breakout bands”. Waves was added to rotation on Triple J - including plays on daytime shows ‘Breakfast’, ‘Mornings’, & Lunch’, complemented by becoming Triple J Unearthed’s Featured Artist Of The Week. The striking music video for Waves has landed over 110k YouTube views.

The band’s debut festival performance at Knight & Day Festival had ‘What We Did On The Weekend’ declaring they were “the highlight of the festival…they were made for the big festival stage”. Future Static further cemented their status with an impressive performance at Unify Forever Festival, following winning the much coveted Triple J Unearthed Unify slot. The group then carried out an extensive national touring regime, including sharing the stage with Caligula’s Horse, RedHook, Pridelands, and Bloom.

With their debut album release planned for 2023, Future Static is a band that will most definitely be one to watch for the future.
