The Originalites

The Originalites began in December of 2008 playing at their friend Kiro Bigira's shop, African Corner. On June 21st, 2011 The Originalites performed for the Ceremony of Kelly Slater (11 time ASP World Campion) before he receives the key to the city of Huntington Beach. The Originalites were introduced to Lewis Richards of 17th Street Recording Studios where they recorded their first full length LP "The Originalites Volume 1." Released in February 2012, and supported with multiple tours throughout the nation, each launched in Anaheim with a ‘House of Blues Tour Kickoff Show’. In spring of 2012, The Originalites were featured in film director Ron Condon's TV Pilot ‘Sessions’ at producer Richard Gibbs' studio, The Woodshed in Malibu. It was there where they performed with musician and World Campion of Surfing, Tom Curren. In September of 2012 'Prisms', off of Volume 1, was featured in Timmy Turner's movie 'Cold Thoughts'. 2013 brought with it the award: "O.C's Best Surf Band", as well as a performance at the Pacific Amphitheatre during The Orange County Fair, opening for both The English Beat and Save Ferris. The Originalites are much more than a "Surf Band", mixing elements of Reggae, Hardcore Punk, Jazz, Ska, Psychedelic, Funk, and Latin. 2014 they received their second award for Orange County’s ‘Best Surf’, and performed at the award ceremony held at the Grove of Anaheim. November of 2014 they signed to Wright Records. Right after that, they left for a tour in Oahu, Hawwii for the month of December. Returning back to record their second full length album at California Sound Studios with Engineer/ producer Jesse Wright and Executive Producer Nathan Wright. The Originalites released their single "I Can't Keep Her Waiting" with music video in February of 2015. Shortly after they released another single "Roses in the Garden" on July 31st, 2015.
