Several changes of name were seen until the band settled on 'RockMelon' and since then, have never looked back. Since forming, RockMelon have battled to make an impression on the live music scene as down-to-earth, passionate musicians without pretentiousness, never giving up, always soldiering forward to bigger things. They have now played alongside many musicians including Electric Six, Adam Ficek of Babyshambles and headlined a festival with The Sugababes. RockMelon have risen through the ranks, ever growing bigger, recording singles in London, both headlining and selling out shows at Sheffield's prestigious Leadmill venue and playing several live sets on the radio accompanied by interviews. In 2012 RockMelon released their 1st single for online purchase and within a day it became No.1 on Amazon's "Hot New Releases" chart for the Rock Genre. They were also featured on the website of Blur's Graham Coxon for the launch of his album 'A&E' as the number 1 suggested band to support him in Nottingham. They then ended the year playing a sell-out show at The 02 Academy, Sheffield with Electric Six. In 2013, RockMelon returned to the 02 Academy to play an acoustic show with Electric Six's frontman Dick Valentine, which proved to be a successful twist on the band's usual shows. 2013 also saw the launch of RockMelon's debut album 'Hot Signal' which was released on September 7th, coupled with a successful launch gig at The Royal Standard, Sheffield. The album is available to purchase digitally worldwide on many leading music download services including iTunes, Amazon and Xbox Music, with full streaming available via Spotify. Physical copies of the album are also available at RockMelon gigs. RockMelon since returned to The 02 Academy, Sheffield to play another end-of-year show with Electric Six after the success of 2012's sell-out, critically praised performance which proved to be of the same high caliber and shortly after were featured in the Top 50 Tracks of The Year on BBC Sheffield Introducing with their track 'Buzzsaw' from the debut album. RockMelon have now played many shows in many venues throughout the UK and continue to do so, rocking off faces and melting ears wherever they go. You love it!
