About Mr.A

When you think of Mars, you're probably thinking of 'Marvin the Martian', it's time for you to meet Marvin, and no this isn't the Lonney Toons character you all know and love, but he does have a point to prove and he's making it heard loud and clear! If you think you know the sounds of Outer Space, well then 18, year old 'Mr.A' has something to show you! Born in Germany, Marvinnik always enjoyed music, from listening to his favourite songs to one day making others move along to his own groove. In 2004 Marvin and his family moved to Canada to live with his step-father, this is where his whole life changed. During Marvin's first couple of months Marvin's love for music inspired him to join this Hip-Hop club at his elementary school. In this club the students would learn how to write, learn how to flow and how to freestyle, this was all being taught by the local substitute teacher: Mr. Wilson. In this club they would hold freestyle battles, and just learn all their is to know about the Hip-Hop culture, for their last assignment they performed infront of the school. He also had his own little rap group while in middle school: T.E.A.M this stood for the members that made up the group: Terren Daily, Ernell Favours, Amrit Gill and Marvinnik Appiahene-Afriyie. This was the initial incident that made Marvin continue with his passion for music. Throughout elementary school Marvin continues to rap and gets noticed by some of his peers at school for being "The entertainment" this is how Marvin would practise his freestyle rapping: by rapping about what people told him to rap about, and what he saw around him. Once Marvin entered high-school, he meet alot of other musicians, and kept in contact with the ones he already knew.He also met his producer Martin 'Foot Prints' Shanouda in high-school, expect more from them in the future. He has also met more artists such as: SBWHY, L3KTRiC, Haze, Invisobill, TMG, Kid Insanity, Phantom, Jay-1-Der, Kyro, I.B.K, Nick Walcott Marvin continuily practises his freestyling and continues to write poetry as a hobby to keep his skills sharp. "I had two other stage names before I decided to stick with 'Mr.A' and those were 'M Double A' and 'Mr.Flow'. 'M Double A' is simple really, it's my name: Marvinnik Appiahene-Afriyie. Since no one could pronounce my last name and they knew I rap my friends would say my stage name would be 'M Double A'. The name 'Mr. Flow' I gave myself because a lot of people always told me that I have a nice flow to when I rap, and the name 'Mr.A' stands for Musically Rising Above. In all honesty I don't care whether you call me Marvin, 'Mr.A', 'M Double A' or whatever it is you want to call me as long as you give my music an honest chance I will be happy" - he sais about his stage names. Marvin had always wanted to have a clear cut reason as to why he's doing something and this is how he came up with his motto or slogan: 'Martian Music'. Now before we go into detail you need to know more about WHY Marvin choose the stage name 'Mr.A. 'Mr.A' originally was again a short form for his name Marvinnik Appiahene-Afriyie, but after some fooling around he came up with a slogan for himself, that he would be known by this would be: 'Martian Music'. After coming up with his slogan he re-evaluated his new monicer and decided to really make it stand out instead of it just being his name. After some soul searching and looking back on why he got into music, it hit him, 'Mr.A' will stand for 'Musically Rising Above'. This helped him come up for a meaning to his phrase 'Martian Music' drawing inspiration from Tupac's 'Thug Life'. What is 'Martian Music' you ask well here it is: 'Martian Music', is rising above your troubles, situations and down coming through the means of education. Whether you are educated or not this doesn't matter. It's finding a way to be better then what you're circumstances allow you to be, it's realizing ones true potential and pushing through the negatives that others have told you or showed to you. That is what the Martian stands for. What the Music stands for is expressing yourself through any form that you are good at, whether it be: graffiti, music or dance. This is how you make yourself known to the world and this is how you want the world to see you! You're passion, your goal, your dreams! You will show everyone what you are capable of that no matter how many times you get kicked down you will always show them why you deserve to get that chance that you've been longing for. You're pouring out your heart and soul, and this is how you get it across, through your art. This is what the Music stands for. When you put them together you get this simple message: Rising above your adversities, and downs by showing people how you will beat the odds and show them all that you are someone that can push through the dark and shine bright with what you love!...........Martian Music.
